They Don't Make Them Like This Any More

The lines about the school playground football brought back memories. Celtic and then Leeds were the two playground favourites of that time. Didn't matter that almost 3/4 of the school supported Hearts or Hibs, you could be anyone you wanted to be at playtime ;)
 
Trouble is, he'd get booked in the first five minutes nowadays and play the rest if the game on eggshells. I remember seeing Tommy Gemmell make a clearance on a match at Tynecastle, don't know what ended up at the back of the Shed, the Hearts winger or the ball. Don't get me wrong, he was a stopper but he also had a cultured footballing style as well and like many in that era, could switch between the two quite easily.

I wonder what some of the current superstars would make of a per season trip to Gullane for some real fitness conditioning
