Never owned such a thing but noticed this winter my legs are getting very cold. Top half cosy, bottom half feeling the pinch. What do you use/recommend?

Specialist products out there that cost a lot but I'm thinking bog standard long johns from M&S etc. I understand the need for a specialised top as something poor may restrict swings etc, but surely that is not an issue on your legs....is it?

Venturing into the unknown - hopefully some of you more mature (ahem) golfers can advise. Why do I assume its only for the older folk?

Anyhow lets not derail my own thread. Hoping for recommendations - looking to keep warm and not get in the way of golf.

Pretty much any thermal leggings will do if worn underneath your waterproof trousers. That combo will keep warmth in and stop any windchill factor.

Lots of ways to deal with it...what trousers? Lined or not?

Whilst the principle of layers is fine when you are going to be taking them off...not a lot of point with trousers in winter.

Loads and loads of options unless you limit yourself to 'golf' gear

M&S thermals for me in the winter. They're as good as anything else I've tried. I use the same type of trousers all year round and just put the thermals on in winter and it works a treat.

Stay away from the sporty compression fit type of leggings and undergarments that are sold as moisture wicking as they can make you colder in any sort of breeze.

M&S thermals do the job for me. If its really cold I'll wear a pair of lined winter trousers too but that's all I need. Not a big fan of wearing waterproof trousers unless it's pouring and never feel cold without them

Have been using the dirt cheap base layers - Campri from Sports Direct - for the last 3 years and have never felt cold (look at my age). Normal trousers and a couple of cotton layers and away you go.

Thanks guys, for me definitely not waterproof. I used lined winter trousers but need something under them. I'm reading that anything woolen can itch so was wary of them and the cheaper ones can loose their shape too quickly. Another issue I read is that sweating can be a problem.

Was reading a builders forum and too my surprise read that a lot of those guys wear bog standard ladies tights under their work trousers - idea is well reviewed in terms of effectiveness?

Any experience of

Itching
loosing shape
sweating
ladies tights
