There are calls in the news for a Boycott of the 2018 and 2022 world cups today , well the 1980 games in Moscow had some sort of Boycott , I think we have not seen the end of this yet and maybe England should hold a football Finals in Britain on the same summer and up the money to more then that of FIFA world cup , not a problem with TV rights either , Sky will back it and you never know , one thing for sure it make them cheats at FIFA sit up , what you think ............:)

Sky don't show the world cup. It's part of the so called "Crown Jewels" of TV (for now at least) and like the Olympics, Wimbledon, Grand National etc are reserved for terrestrial TV. Been reading about this today but still don't think there will be a veto from the big European nations and if England do boycott it, we'll never get another major championship or hold European club finals again and we'll be out on a limb and ostracised. If however the big nations like Germany, Spain, etc all agree to join forces and don't back out I can't see how FIFA can hold a successful games without some of the best nations playing

I think they should boycott FIFA tournaments if they feel strongly enough about it. Turning up and playing is, in effect, condoning the corruption that the FA believe exists and for me would be extremely hypocritical of them.

I also believe other FAs should make a stance as well, as should UEFA (assuming they are not up to their neck in it), but they will not and the charlatans that are FIFA (and other association) blazers will continue to suck cash out of the game and into their pockets, funding the obligatory lavish lifestyles that they are accustomed to.

As an aside,

If you value honesty in the game and/or think money is corrupting/wasting the game then boycott the gravy train filling stations that are professional football grounds and go down the park and watch the local amateur team.

I do wonder though, is the FAs main gripe that their brown envelope wasn't thick enough?

I really don't know why all the european nations put up with fifa, it's a farce. They should threaten to go it alone and stage the european championships every 2 years and invite 3 or 4 non european nations to take part. It's really only Brazil and Argentina that would be missed from the world cup. Just the threat of something along those lines would force fifa to change, starting with getting rid of Blatter.

Yes they should Fifa is corrupt, and Blatter surrounds himself with acolytes who keep him there.

The Uefa nations need to boycott the World cup to force there hand.

We need to back Scotland up who started 20 years ago.........:ears:

The problem is UEFA is just as corrupt and the FA is just as incompetent

easy to call for a boycott when your "ex" head of FA. Yes we can all see the point and all good in principal but not a cat in hells of happening IMO.

I'd supporter England boycotting those world cups. Not on a ethical and moral stance, but just beacuse it will spare us the tedium of watching them vastly underperform and be shown up in a footballing sense by every team. I mean it was the mighty Costa Rica in the last one, just imagine who we would struggle to get past by 2022...;)

I'd rather watch them than they not qualify, we don't always under perform, sometimes we just over rate our chances!

It has to be done at a UEFA level as frankly FIFA would be very happy if England boycotted on its own. They don't like us, they see us as trouble makers so it would work for them for us to pull out on our own. If UEFA pulled all teams then you simply don't have a World Cup either from a playing or commerical perspective.

For all that we pour scorn on FIFA they have palyed the game very cleverly. They chuck huge sums of money into Latin Amercia, Africa and Asia so buying their loyalty. Blatter's bungs have virtually guaranteed his position for as long as he wants it. Highly depressing really.

Well they got to do something even if its just to put out a call for it and go from there , or its put up with the crooks , Thats why everyone should say the 2022 WC should be played in June/July and the big European nations should force them to make Qatar do that then send in the H & S to see if the whole thing is safe , why bend backwards to help them , its like seeing a thief trying to break into your home so you give him the key so he does not break the window and damage ....................stand up now or put up with it forever

Fair play if you can summon up the enthusiasm to even watch the qualifying matches, to me it's a bit like watching the Sixth Sense on repeat, it kind of loses a lot if you know what always happens in the end. And I'd rather watch Bake Off nowadays. Not sure if that says more about me or the England football team.
