The World Super Six - good new format or a gimmick

I thought it was a good start and nice to see different formats being tried. I think a few tweaks might help. For me scrap 54 holes and go down to 36 so they have to go all out from the start.

As I posted on another thread, my only niggle with the format nearly happened.
Khongmatwai was the last to qualify through the playoff, was 9 shots behind with 18 to play and came close to winning when he would barely have had a chance of a top 5 finish.
I don't think mixing Strokeplay with Matchplay works.
More Matchplay events I'm in favour of and if the top seeds get knocked out then that's life.
Have enough money on offer and the big boys will come...

Didnt like it and i dont think it will work - dont ever think stroke play and match play can mix together in the same comp.

I think you're right and it seems wrong that those at the top of the leaderboard can suddenly go out and lose out on all that money. Yes I know they're aware of the format but I think it needs to be one thing or the other. More matchplay, certainly over here would be refreshing if you can get the bigger players to buy into it. That's the biggest issue they face

I understand your point, but as stated in the article, it's a similar format to the US Amateur, 36 holes of Strokeplay followed by knock out, again I think it's nice to see them try different ideas and as we often get thrown back at people on here, they knew the rules before they entered.

From acorns mighty oaks grow. :)

Really enjoyed it. What you have to remember is that the stroke play element is purely for qualification, so matter if you were top of the leaderboard or 24th, you had the same chances come the knockout. Commentary was poor, but there you go. Good crowds I thought.
