As I posted on another thread, my only niggle with the format nearly happened.
Khongmatwai was the last to qualify through the playoff, was 9 shots behind with 18 to play and came close to winning when he would barely have had a chance of a top 5 finish.
I don't think mixing Strokeplay with Matchplay works.
More Matchplay events I'm in favour of and if the top seeds get knocked out then that's life.
Have enough money on offer and the big boys will come...
I understand your point, but as stated in the article, it's a similar format to the US Amateur, 36 holes of Strokeplay followed by knock out, again I think it's nice to see them try different ideas and as we often get thrown back at people on here, they knew the rules before they entered. As I posted on another thread, my only niggle with the format nearly happened.

From acorns mighty oaks grow.I think you're right and it seems wrong that those at the top of the leaderboard can suddenly go out and lose out on all that money. Yes I know they're aware of the format but I think it needs to be one thing or the other. More matchplay, certainly over here would be refreshing if you can get the bigger players to buy into it. That's the biggest issue they face
