Playing in the Sunday comp this morning with MashleyR7 and my tee shot on the par 5 10th was, as usual, 15 yards past him in the centre of the fairway. I moved off to the right to clear out of his way and he asked me to move my trolley so I obliged and with that, the diminutive left hander, lashed into the ball with his 3 wood. He pull hooked and I saw his ball racing in my direction 30 yards away, smash into my GoKart trolley and rebound off, narrowly missing me and other playing partner. With that, the wheel collapses, smashed, and I have to withdraw from the comp and nurse the trolley back - game over!

So, only 9 holes today and a phone call to Sandy on Tuesday to sort out bringing my pride and joy back to life!

(The round was pretty crap anyway)

serves you right for playing with a left hander, spawn of satan the lot of them.

What an odd coincidence, Chris. The wheel came off my Gokart in a comp last week too. My mishap came in two stages. Firstly I found the wheel off in the trolley storeroom and the blue hub broken the week previously. Didn't look too closely and simply ordered up a new one which, as you would guess, arrived promptly and without charge. But when I went to put the new one on and pulled the old hub out of its socket, it was in many bits - shattered really. So I guessed this must have been accidental damage from the trolley's having been knocked off its shelf in the storeroom and landing with a sideways impact on the wheel. I felt mildly (but not lastingly) guilty at having presented it as wear and tear to Gokart.

Anyway, new hub in place and the trolley trundled off happily on the first qualifying round of the year. 5 holes later, the wheel developed a violent wobble and came off - this time with a broken axle. I guess it must have been broken at the same time as the hub but not shown up immediately. Heigh-ho, 13 holes to go and a bag to carry for the first time in more than 30 years. Obviously luckier than you,
I can still do it but what a struggle. My tee shot at the par 3 17th was nothing short of pathetic and a long way short of the green. Managed to finish 3, 4 but my old legs were barely working! Thank goodness for the recuperative power of a pint of Belhaven Black.

I hope the trolley just fell off because I hadn't put it away securely. It's not good to think that someone might have knocked it off and didn't have the courtesy to tell me.

Yeh it threw me a couple of times at west hill, look up to a club swinging near you! Lefties are a danger to society!!! But lol at the story Chris!!!!

It could have been a lot worse if ball had met flesh. I'm sure Sandy and the Go-Kart gurus will give your trolly the TLC it needs. I have to agree that left handers are all wrong 'uns

And it appears I'm lumbered with him during comps for most of the season! I'm planning to get the armoured GoKart!

Is MashleyR7 a Gers fan? :)

Spurs - just as bad!

A sad story Colin!

I can't really speak to Sandy and pull the old "I just was going up a hill when ........ " warranty claim! Maybe I'll do the "I thought these trolleys were supposed to be strong" opening gambit!

This was a freak accidentI! He was going to leave the trolley directly in front on me where it would of been totally safe from the snap hook!! Still even after it hit the trolley I was still 200+ yards from the green, pin high in 3, a chip and put for a par!

I really hope it can be fixed, cheaply!!

I feel guilty now, if it had hit your shin you may not have played again this year or ever!! Certainly an eye opener of what could happen.

So, course management notes for next week on 10th - drive down the middle, 2nd shot pull hook and smash GoKart leave 200 yards, another big hit, chip and one putt = par! Seems like a game plan

Just to be serious, it was totally accidental but does highlight the potentially dangerous place a golf course can be!

Out of interest GoKart owners was your cart still in warranty or did you get the service they offer for £99 to increase warranty?

Mine is two years old in October or so and do not know if the service is worthwhile.

I had the automatic handle fitted last year and, for that, they extend the warranty by two years. I'm not sure how their pricing works out for repair work but the trolley can need repair occasionally so, like an extended warranty on your washing machine, you pays your money and takes your choice!

Mine is certainly well out of warranty and anyway I couldn't exactly claim when I'm pretty well certain that it was stotted off a concrete floor.

Cheers Colin, i'm just thinking £100 for a service and two year warranty and then if needed a new battery is getting in the region of £160 just to keep the thing going.

Did GoKart charge for the repair even though you were out of warranty?

Well GoKart haven't let me down at all. Chris rang up Tuesday to explain what happen, I'd said to Chris that I'd obviously pay for any repair costs. GoKart have sent Chris the bits he needs free of charge and saved me ££££££, great customer service, quick service and Chris's trolley, much like his hips, have been screwed back together and he's ready to go again! Top notch work GoKart.

To anyone thinking of buying a trolley, you really cant beat GoKart on backup, ease of dealing with and quality of product
