I do watch golf on tv the problem is all the top pro's are brilliant but boring ,,till the other day i watched this competition on sky sports called Trilby tournament it had the lads you would see at your local club, all of them had a handycap & anyone of them could have won ,all the county winners were in the final ,it was the most realistic golf ive ever seen on sky sports

at the end of the tournament they shown all the good shots & all the bad shots

the two bad ones i remember are ....he looked like the professional you would normally see setting up is tee shot with a driver doing all the routine & looking down the fairway etc he then swung & hit the ball into the advertising board in front & just to the left of the tee box ,,

another one teed is ball to high & the ball just went sky high

does anyone no anything about entering this tournament do you pay to enter or does your club have to enter also i would like to know what the prize money was they didn't mention it on tv

as anyone else seen this trilby tournament & what do you think ??????

Yes I imagine 90% of the forum have seen it and I agree its great to watch.

There was a thread about how to enter on here a few days ago just put it in the search :-)

There was someone from the forum who played in the Trilby Tour last year, cant think who it was but he posted when he was playing on here,I am sure somebody will recall who it was..

with a tricky chip over a bunker, balls of steel :)

Nah, I got lucky.... ;)

It's a great competition, plenty of golf mad blokes in snazzy togs, with good, bad and bloody ugly swings (I'm in the latter two).

Entry is full this year, but there is a waiting list. £250 to enter. A few lads on here are in it this year I believe?

I played in it at Foxhills GC. It was my first time and I have put in again for it this year but I waited until my round at Foxhills was played and it was too late. I'm on the reserve list but I was last year so I'm hopeful of getting back in.

I played my round with the eventual winner on that day, Ian Barker. He went through the final at the Buckinghamshire.

Its great fun and I hope to do a bit better this time round. Sky plussed the episode I was in, I saw a bit of me and you get your name in the credits at the end.

You need to be in the top 4 ideally on the day and you will get a lot of coverage on telly as you probably already know.

so wish I was good enough, am deffo going to enter next years and sorted my caddy already :)
(handicap permitting of course)

I reckon for £250 as a one off, chance to be on tv and maybe make the final is a decent price for a day to possibly remember for a lifetime

How did you get on Sawtooth score wise?

Not that great, the front nine was nervy and I scored just 8 pts. 16 pts back in so 24pts overall. I think 30pts was good enough to make top ten. Ian won it on 36pts.

Ironically my first tee shot after the announcer said this will be watched by 3 million people was good. The approach was good as well but it went over the back and I made a 6 after that. That was the story of the front nine, good ball striking but missing greens and fairways and not getting up and down.

I'll be better equipped this year and with a bit of luck you never know.

I didnt play a practice round and never played the course before so this is something I want to change this time.

great subtlety in the promotion, NOT!

Personally I don't like the pretentious hats or the guy running it as he seems (may not be) a k*ob! Plus it is all in England which rules out a lot of good players North of the Border pandering to where most of the population are. Though I suspect the hats are more suited to that part of the UK.

I'm on the reserve list for this year. If I don't get in by right I'm tempted to try and caddy for someone as it's a cracking day

Me too. A mate carried for me last year and he wouldnt take any cash from me even though he gave up a days work (self employed). I gave him a dozen Pro V1s for his troubles, he enjoyed the day and had a bit of food and drink afterwards and kept the caddie suit and cap.

Available for hire to any forum member in need of a "decent" caddy. Well I'll keep up and shut up if that helps

I'm in this year. Looking forward to seeing which courses are available.

I played a couple of years ago at Bearwood Lakes. A mate from my pool team caddied for me. He plays golf occasionally but not great, would be 28 for sure.

It was quite funny as most of the holes he was still near the tee trying to put the headcover back on my driver as the rest of the group were 100yds down the fairway!

Might try and get myself a 'proper' golfer this year.

I think it is overpriced, but I have to admit it was a cracking day.

Not sure I qualify as a 'proper' golfer, but would be happy to caddy for you if you're playing Bearwood Lakes.

...or failing a 'proper' golfer, one of them S&T dudes would do. :p :p :D

Thanks for the offer James, but I don't pay very well!

I'd be surprised if BL was hosting an event again after not having it last year, but you never know. I hope it is... I want revenge on those greens

Beats me why anyone watches this unless it is for the comedy value. I mean good luck to all who play in it but is it really any more interesting than the Monthly Medal?

Is your monthly medal watched by 3 million sky viewers? That's how many watch the Trilby Tour, they can't all be wrong?
