Have many of you tried or switched to the #7 Tank?

Have been looking for a putter, got fitted in the past and was told my stroke needs a face balanced putter. Is the #7 tank face balanced? Have had a look around but this seems to be something so many putter manufacturers leave off there web pages.

Also with the extended lengths of the shaft which did you find suited you better normally I use a 34 inch putter so what did you use before and what did you go to / prefer?

Will have to get down a range and have a go with a few I know but just wondered what others have found

Try and look at the new counter balance weighted ping putter

The Tank will keep the head square - same with the Spider and Daddy Long Legs.

I've got the Tank #1 from a recent Odyssey demo day. Took the Odyssey Protype Tour #9 to Woburn as I was worried the Tank would be too heavy for the quick greens. Putted well with it and it has remained in the bag since. I am in two minds to flog the Tank on or keep it for the wetter winter greens

Cheers Homer,

Did have a look there quite a bit of info and a lot on putter balance but nothing on the #7.

I guess it is but don't know, just need to find some time to get to the shop.

yes its face balanced!

I tried one and used it at 'Britains best putter' regional final and was 1st equal with 31 putts:eek: (then got knocked out in the 1st rnd of the ..erm..knockout). Nice heavy weight and it feels really solid when putting. I tried 34" but 33" would suit me better

I think RickG has one - no surprise there then.....

I had a swish with one in a shop somewhere and it seemed to have a kind of keel on the sole.
As a result I kept hitting the floor first - something I'm sure I'd get used to though..

Homer, what length is the Tank #1 you have got? I had a roll with one at the Golf Show and loved the feel, so am on the lookout for one...

Switched to a 38 inch No7 Tank from my Scotty.

Have to say had a few weeks to get used to the weight and having the mick taken out of me for dumping the Scotty but I have to say this putter has been a revelation.

I have gone from averaging 34-40 putts a round and being in crisis with anything outside six foot being at leas a two putt sometimes (more often than I care to admit) a three putt. Now I am holing putts with confidence. My last two rounds have been 29 and 28 putts without a three putt, this has included around five putts outside twenty feet and quite a few around 6-10 ft

I know a club cannot make you a great putter but getting one you are comfortable with sure does help, if anyone is struggling with their putting I highly recommend you give one of these a go.

I am definitely adding some weight to my grip end before this season. considered buying a counter balance putter but it doesn't need to be an exact science. any weight on the grip end makes a big difference. It stays so much more stable through the stroke! feels so much better.

game changer!

I have to say my Tank is back in the spare bag. I prefer my milled odyssey #9. If the greens are desperately slow once the course re-opens I might use it again but I don't think its a keeper

The greens are fine mate, certainly not slow if this morning is anything to go by so nothing to worry about on that front

Why are you thinking of dropping it Homer??

Did you try the #7 out too? still can't find if this is face balanced

All the versions of the Odyssey #7 are face balanced as far as I know. Try balancing it across the palm of your hand near the bottom of the shaft. If the face points at the sky then it is face balanced.

At risk of getting panned, what you need is a fitting. :D Seriously, the guy that did mine has weights that he puts in the grip end then watches your putts, gave me feedback on putter path, how stable the head was through impact and which one gave the best roll, discussed which weight felt best to me and then fitted it, took about 40 minutes and I think he charged £35 for the lot.

I have been using the Tank #1 for a little while now, and I really like it. I hole out with a lot more confidence, and I think the added weight in the head really helps control the strike. I guess the true test will be when I go to Cyprus next weekend and how it rolls on the greens out there

Does mean I have a Scotty Cameron for sale now...
