Sorry i couldnt find the thread,so id thought i would start a new one.

I was just about to start some fitness when someone put a thread up about the "Plank".
A fitness excersise that increased the strenght of your core.
So i thought i would give it a go.
I started training about 5 weeks ago,i have lost 8 lbs,have been jogging,cycling and
doing some free weights at home.
Also i have been doing situps and core strengthening excersises.
When i first done the plank i hit a massive 1min 13 sec.
Today i did 3 minutes exactly.
My next target will be 5 mins in another months time.
Any one else took up the challenge?

I assumed this post would be about lying down in unusual places, and being photographed.

Was part of my routine as a youth when doin fitness stuff at home. Worked well for me. I still can do a minute or two but thats a stretch now! I should do it again really.

I found it most effective to do it for 30 seconds to a minute then stop, rest for an equal time then do it again, repeat 5 times.

Endurance is fun but its not the only way to do the exercise.

Also add some elements to it - raise a leg and hold it without tilting/losing form, then repeat it on the other side. Side planks are tough too.

Will start doing some variations soon.
Generally i do 3 x 1 min,but im looking to increase the load.
Cant believe no-one else took the chalenge on,shame as i like competition:)
