It's been out a little while, so has anybody had a bash?

Initial thoughts wanted by a fed up inconsistent driver of the ball who blames a non fitting driver for every bad shot.

Also, if I do bite, and go get fitted, how many shafts will Ag fit me for? And would it be a lesson as much as a fitting?

cheers

I REALLY wanted to be picked for that gm fitting :(

I went from a G30 that fit me perfectly to a 917 that I could hit well with only my best swing. Jumped back to a G30 again and all is right again.
I had a swing with a G400 set up the same way as my G30. It's a nice club, sound is much much nicer than the G.
Just waiting on American golf to start up the double trade in again so I can swap the 917 for a G400.

Get that itch scratched mush and book a session with Ping at HQ.

I'd much prefer to see the ball fly down a range than into a simulator.

Spoke to a pro at one of our local clubs and he said he was waiting for the low spin version. You may be interested in that.

For me Ping should have moved on a lot more with this driver.

Top is far too busy and it looks far too much like the g30 that came out 3 years ago.

I (until 3 weeks ago) had a g30. When the G came out my proshop said it was virtually the same. The g400 looks the same again.

It sounds better - is that it?

To anyone buying. Go for a proper fitting. Shops will only have 1 shaft.

Going to Gainsborough would be fantastic. However, with them not doing fittings on a weekend would probably cost me at least another £200, taking into account loss of earnings and diesel.

James, are Ag looking at restarting that double trade in offer anytime soon?

I have a demo club from my coach, sf tec with a tour 65 shaft in, I used it yesterday as he is waiting on getting all head and shaft options in from ping to do a proper fit.
Front 9 it went great, forgiveness there in abundance, good distance, though felt it was shorter than the 917 though that might be as it's not optimised for me yet.
Certainly worth a try, it will be my new driver in a few weeks.

one of the fitters at our place gets his clubs for free and has just put the g400 in his bag despite having just ordered his epic. he doesn't usually like ping either

Yeah the sf tec spins more, on the trackman it was coming out at 2800-3000 so a bit high but I had the chance to try on the course so thought why not.

I really want to try this driver! All I've heard is how forgiving it is and people are Defo seeing distance gains. Trying my hardest not to swap my 917 but very heard especially with £125 behind the pro shop ha

A close friend of mine is a ping whore who is currently gaming a g30. He tried the newer G on a launch monitor and got 2-3 yards improvement with no better dispersion - so he stuck with the the G.

Bouncing forward he did the same with the g400 , he tried on the monitor with no noticeable improvements over the g30, he has booked a full fitting but isn't hoping for much.
