I got home from the Open tday at about 6.30 after a full day at St Georges. There were not so many European players there as it appears a load were kept in Scotland not knowing whether they had made he cut or not, due to the delays.
Luke Donald and G Mac made a late appearance. It was a great opportunity to see many of the USA pro's who seem to be unable to find their passports for the BMW at Wentworth and we saw Bubba, Dustin Johnson, Fowler, Justin Leonard and "the man himself" Tom Watson!
For anyone going, the price of food and drink is extortionate £2.10 for a Coke, Sprite etc and a sandwich (at Sandwich) was above £4 as was a sausage in a rather doughy bread roll. The merchandice was rather disappointing as it was all R & A approved and "The Open" logo'd and as a result of the PGA not being represented, (I was told), there were no shiny clubs, putters etc to drool over and worse still, some jobsworth wouldn't let us walk the 2 foot out through the entrance we came in and insisted we walk the entire length of the marquee and halfway round it to get out to a point 2 foot from where we already were!!! Don't they just love having a badge and carrying a walkie talkie - it must give super powers!
However, the day was fun, we saw some top golfers, the weather was great and the only other downside was that I wore my sun glasses all day and HID says I look just like Kung Foo Panda - I am sure that supper will inclde something made with bamboo!
Back tomorrow if the weather permits!
