The Open 2015 Advice please

I have just found out today that i'm going to the open this year as my 40th birthday present. :whoo:

Any tips for attending this event greatly appreciated.

We will be staying in Edinburgh and we are likely to fly there, what is the best way to get into the city center where we are staying from the airport. I'm thinking taxi but just wondered on the cost / options

You can probably use the new trams to get into the city centre. Taxi will be an expensive alternative.

Factor in the drive time to St Andrews, then double it. Those roads are horrendous when the open is on as it a single carriageway A-road to St Andrews.

I am told, we have train tickers with transfer. I did not book it only found out today. So hopefully will help here?

thats good then, I was going to recommend the train option. The train station is about 10 mins from the old course.

There is no train station in St Andrews, closest is Leuchars.

Yeah train is the way to go. There will be a shuttle service from Leuchars station to the course. Sadly it won't be 10 mins as Adey says, with the extra traffic I would allow 30 mins despite it only being 4 or 5 miles up the road.

what kind of time would you guys be aiming to get to the course?

We are there the Saturday and Sunday
