More chance to become a millionaire than ever before - or so the advertising goes - or less chance?

Actually realistically no chance - all that's happened is with 10 numbers added ('extra numbers to choose from' LOL - are they taking the proverbial?) I've even less chance than my previous realistically no chance.

Ah - they tell me - with two numbers I would win a Free Lotto Lucky Dip - so I'm getting another go. Love that as well. When actually with this 'win a Lucky Dip with 2 numbers' thing I can hear the bright things at Camelot thinking that they've got a way of getting those of us not yet hooked into Lucky Dips hooked.

Nice one Camelot

Thinking I might just jack it in - can't be bothered with advertising that treats us luck gullible mugs.

You have missed one of the changes which is a £1m raffle as part of every Lotto raffe draw, so effectively an additional prize and guaranteed at £1m so statistically you now have more chance of becoming a millionaire via the Lotto draw than you did before.

The fact is that less people are playing the Lotto. It's obvious with the serious drop in top prizes. You need a roll over to get the winnings of say 5-6 years ago for one week. Too many options for people to be bothered about now. I play it occasionally on the Euro roll overs but the lotto is a waste of time and money. It would be better if they brought down the total jackpot to £1m and split the rest across the board. Spread the wealth a bit more. More folk would play it.

My wife and I have played the lottery from day one but we both recently gave up. What with a doubling of the ticket price and now a huge increase in the odds it's no real fun to play any more. The money saved will pay for the occasional Indian takeaway which is my definition of a good cause.

We play the euro millions by direct debit, i like a punt on things anyway, so 18 quid a month for the chance of stupid crazy money? yeh go on then! Plus would be gutted if our numbers now came up after playing the same numbers for 5 years!

Damn my kids and wedding anniversary! If they were born on a different day and we got married another time, we could have won by now!

Aye - but my numbers don;t go past 48 and since the new numbers came in there have always been balls in the 50s - but I can't change my numbers (well you can;t can you?). Maybe they think I'll take out another set of numbers to cover the 50s. Nope.

Never do the lottery.
I play Roulette though.
Stick a £ on one number on a roulette wheel and you've got a 37/1 chance of it coming in.
If it does, you win £35.00
You've got to pick 3 numbers out of 49 to win a tenner on the lottery.
No chance.

Well of course there is a chance, its just longer odds than roulette.

I have had 5 out of 7 numbers on the euro millions twice! Both times i won sub 200 quid. i was gutted! One day rodders, one day....

It used to be about 14,000,000 to 1 for a jackpot win. Think its 48,000,000 to 1 now. Not that it makes much difference really.

Funny enough SILH I was thinking down exactly the same line So! I might jack it in too

We all know it's not going to happen - but we suspend our disbelief. And then they make it harder and pretend it's better. Pah! Pshaw! And pop! goes my balloon of suspended disbelief.

I didn't know about the changes till I did it the other day and some 50+ numbers came up and I immediately twigged that my chances of a jackpot win had gone up from 14m to 1 to some ridiculously unachievable number, also, the guff about the millionaire prize which has been running for some time anyway, leads me to think I might just ditch it all

Haven't played the lotto regularly for quite some time now. No chance I'll be playing with the additional numbers. I'll still have a punt on the European lottery though.

I made the silly mistake of picking 6 numbers on day one, I know the numbers off pat, so does the missus, we wouldn't not dare put them on just in case, sods law and all that. If I had put random numbers on each week, we would've stopped play years ago.

Don't play the Euro millions, and I gave up on the Thunderaball, I went back and totted up all the times I'd won through 2014 against the money I'd put on, it's worked out, that if I'd saved the money I would've had twice as much. 3 draws a week x 52 weeks = £156, Total won, less than £70, so roughly £80 out of pocket give or take.
