Hi all,off to the Algarve in June next year and looking at where to play, has anyone played either of these courses?Wondering if there expensive price tag of 125 euro is justified or if they need a bit of time to settle in.They have only been open a few weeks so finding feedback is tough but would appreciate if anyone has any.

Can't help on those particular two courses but 125 euros is a heck of a green fee taking todays exchange rate into account. Hopefully by next year the pound might have gotten a little stronger again, but Jeez!!
The Algarve is slowly but surely pricing itself out for the "average" golfer.
It must be about 100 quid nowadays to get onto Vale Do Lobo.....

I played Vale de Lobo Ocean in September for Euros 92 thro a pre booking website & Royal Course was just over Euros 100
(also played Millenium for about Euros 65)

Seemed expensive but treated myself after a long hard year & it was great not to have to carry / wear all the rain gear
& only worry abount sunburn rather than rust

The Faldo / O'Connor courses opened just after I came back

Remember the first time I visited the Algarve...Quinta Do Lago was £23.00 and my father in law winced at that!!

Those were the days.

I've played both of the "Lobo" courses, didn't enjoy the Ocean as much as the "Royal"...found the first few holes really uninteresting, and they were waterlogged for some reason. I think the 16th on the Royal (the long par 3 over the ravine) is a joke...stroke index 14 or something similar (I know I didn't shot on there) and you have to rifle in a low iron or a wood, clear a bunker that guards the whole front of the green and hold the bloody thing.
Should be about SI 4 or thereabouts.

Hope you find out the info you are requesting

Enjoyed Ocean (but as a newbie I don't know better). Hit my first drive straight & long(ish)downhill. Unfortunately from that point until 17th my game went downhill as well but then I ended with 2 net pars to go to the 19th happy.

Ocean also has a similar par 3 by the beach & I took fright and sent my tee shot way over the back of the green

Not played out there but the prices seem pretty steep to me. Can't see the Homer family budget stretching to foreign trips for quite a while so they will probably be even more expensive by then

I remember that hole!! Not quite as long as the one on the Royal course but still a bit of a tester...bloody breezy there when I played it!

Just wait for 2009 to get in full swing and all these resorts start feeling the pinch from the world economy. Especially spain where a huge part of its economy is tourism, they have a shock comming next year and I forcast a big drop in prices over there next yr.

Have not played these new courses was in the Algarve in October surced a great deal from Oceanico 5 nights accommodation in a 3 bedroom apartment 4 rounds of golf for €470 played Alamos, Morgado, Boavista and Palmeres.

Agree next year could be interesting and prices may drop.
