so i bought very early into hybrids , i bought the TM rescue strong many years agoand its bloody brilliant out the rough, fluffy lies its my go to club. However off the tee i just cant hit it , awful ! Will there be any benefit to upgrading this to a modern day hybrid ? and will i still get the same brilliance out of rough/fluffy lies from the new modern day versions that sometimes look more like a fairway wood?

I guess you have to question whether you need it off the tee.
If you can reliably hit your driver, a fairway wood or a long iron off the tee for par 4 and 5 holes, why replace the club at all?
Sounds like you have a gem from the rough and fluffy lies - why ruin it?

not sure an awful lot has really changed with hybrid design to make a difference to you from your description, i would suggest the RBZ stage is longer. Maybe find a range with a demo club you can hit if you are wanting a new shiney? That way you can tee it up and see if you have any more joy hitting it off the tee. (bearing in mind golfs law that once owned a club never behaves as well! :) ... )

my big problem is the par 3s off whites at my course a possible 255,205,190 off yellows no problem but whites (otherwise comps)
i struggle and its these par3s that are killing my comp scores :(

TM's original Rescue was and still is a great club! You should really try to get on with it off the tee.

You might consider Wilson Fybrids, which are slightly bigger-headed hybrids and can work well off the tee or deck or out of rough. Adams has a wide range and a larder headed one of theirs could be suitable.

The TM Rescue that I have (4) is also quite large headed - compared to the original - but is still very versatile.

I had a TM Rescue, one of the original ones, and found that because of the offset I tended to hook them off the tee as I was hitting it like a 3-wood. Try a really low tee and hitting down on the ball off the tee and it may help you. Dont see any advantage to a modern hybrid TBH

there are new models that focus on the clubs rescue capabilities, and there are models that emulate 2, 3 and 4 irons - choose one that suits you and your requirements.

I'm not a believer in all this 'iron swing v wood swing' lark either; smacks of snake oil to me. Whilst there are variations in peoples underlying swings, few change them between their 3 wood and 3 iron, or even 7 iron. Shorter shafts deliver a steeper angle of attack purely as a function of being shorter - and vice versa. This even applies to the driver - you play it further forward in the stance off a higher tee with a longer shaft and your angle into the ball is changed for you!

If you can play a club from the rough, but no the tee, you need to understand what you are doing differently - because you will be doing something different. Then there's only the question of why....

I'm pretty sure it's confidence , when it's lying in fluffy rough ,the club looks so natural to me like it was meant to be there! I just hit it like a fairway wood and sweep thru , hey presto out it pops !

However when I'm teeing it up the confidence goes , it doesn't look right at address and all of a sudden , I have no idea what to do and poor shot ensues , distance direction !!! On the odd occasion I do get good contact it flies like billyio! None of this flying hi and landing soft just bullets out ! Lol.

P.s I know I have issues hahaha
