So last night, I got 9 holes in and the missus came with me to get some exercise as she said she fancied a walk.

Anyway the conversation from the second tee went something like this:-

Missus: Where did that go?
Me: Down that way
Missus: Why did you shout?
Me: because I sliced the ball and there is a man down there
Missus: That him?
Me: Yeah
Missus: What flag you going for? The one down there next to that sand pit?
Me: Yeah
Missus: Is that your ball next to the sand pit on that flat bit?
Me: Yeah, it's a bunker and yes that is my ball
Missus: That was a good shot, you're right next to the flag
Me: I am, but that is the 3rd green, I was going for that flag down there
Missus: Oh, is that why you came over? To practice?

It'll be golf on my own from now on I think.

A guy I know met his future wife while she was working for the European Tour at Wentworth. She didn't actually play golf, though.

One day after they met, she went out on a buggy with him while he played a few holes at the West Course at Wentworth. He was a 9 handicap and played the first 6 holes in level par and was quite pleased with himself.

"You're not very good" she said. "What are you talking about? I am level par" he said, "Who have you seen play better?". "Severiano .... somebody. He was quite good" she replied. "Errr......." he said, slightly lost for words.

They are still together, though.

My other half walked around Formby hall with me. She enjoyed the front 9 but was bored by the back.

She said I talk to the ball more than Jordan Spieth. Every shot was begging the ball to get down. I actually played quite well that day. No dramas.

I did mange to hit my 1st wife with a golf ball after topping my tee shot on the par 3... somehow I knew even then :p

The thing I miss most about having a young child is my wife not being able to walk a few holes with me. She thinks I am really good!

Love Ethans story!!

I'm not entirely sure I'd want the missus to come and watch me play golf...!

Excellent lol.

I tried to get my ex-wife into golf years ago but she fluffed every shot all the way along the grass. At the end of the 9 holes she said "I think I done alright, when we going out next" Nope!

My current good lady would rather watch it, and insists on watching it, but doesn't mind chipping a few practice balls into a net out in the garden but won't bother trying on a course. Incidentally, also doesn't mind that I play either or for how long. Bonus.

I guess I'm lucky. My missus loves the game almost as much as me, is more than happy to spend all weekend playing, and gives the ball a good whack.

Gold dust my man, I'd love that!

Sadly HID has a passing interest, she can actually hit a ball on the range/par 3 course but never got the bug. The one time I took her along for a walk I played a local, shorter course in the evening and shot a 74 that couldve easily been in the 60s. She thinks I'm great. I'll not take her to the real course til I'm a bit better ;)

Love it, mate. I'd go solo from here on!

Mine decided to join her parents and me for a round in Portugal and drove one of the buggies.

She didn't really comment on my golf, cos she brought a book with her too, and just read that the whole time she was parked!

I don't believe a word of it.......

You sliced it?????
You???

My wife occasionally walks a few holes with me. One time out many years ago before we were married I reached the Par 3 5th hole and she asked if she could have a go (I think I must have been making it look very easy...hmmm - or maybe she thought she could do better - couldn't do worse). Somehow she hit the ball and it skittered along the ground just short of the green - three more prods and she was in the hole for 4! No bother she thinks. Next hole 600yd par 5 with cross-ditches - she gave up after hitting her 13th shot into the second cross ditch - all of 180yds from the tee. I smugly said nothing.

That said - she did allow me to play golf on our honeymoon in Sri Lanka and walked the course with me. Nuwara Eliya. Splendid.

Afraid that getting married would affect my golf I got a half set for my wife and suggested she come out and play 9 holes with me in the summer evenings. She started off at the range and quickly moved on to the 9 holes in an evening. Next season she joined the golf club and she has never looked back. She probably plays more than me some seasons. She's a steady 16-18 sort of player, always managing to keep in that hcp area. Plays a mean matchplay but often gets undone by a bad hole in strokeplay. We have a Quaich which we play for when away on holiday, always knowing who the current holder is and always looking forward to the next time we play for it.

my OH is just starting again after hurting her back a few years ago. Picked her some cobra irons on flea bay which she uses at the range when I go. Next stop is the par 3 course and a few lessons.
when I play she comes along and drives the buggy. its a nice way to get out and spend time together that doesn't involve walking round Bluewater!

My mrs and daughter normally come and drive the buggy when I play in Tenerife, mostly to laugh at me I think, but it's good to spend time together.

Daughter is just starting to show an interest in playing, and has her first lesson with our lady pro in a week or so.

I think I'd quite like the wife to be able to play golf.

My wife used to be a 7 HCjunior county golfer and we regularly have rounds together when she gets time

Looking forward to the day when she retires from hockey and takes up golf again
