Seeing Norrin's post about ? reminded me of story on BBC breakfast a few weeks ago. It concerned a man, based in Bristol, who had a real bee in his bonnet when the apostrophe wasn't used correctly on shop fronts/posters.
He would venture out during the dead of night, covered with a balaclava and use his "Apostrophiser" tool and paint the apostrophe on the shop billboards in the correct place.
The home made "Apostrophiser" tool was made from timber with some sort of brush added to the top.
Thank goodness for my Sky box as this enabled me to rewind the story, after I had stopped laughing, and watch it again.

I can remember watching that and I thought " sad act", it's like when I see posts on here. People write good posts, they have given them plenty of thought. They have genuine concerns or problems. There are some excellent replies. Then the apostrophe police turn up and say" er that's in the wrong place".

Unfortunately not every golfer went to Oxbridge. I worked at the pit for 36 years and taking the Micky was the second thing you learned after staying alive.
But some folk on here are serious about Grammer, when they have nothing else to contribute.

If affore mentioned guy has spare time on his hands, and he did come across as a decent guy, it should be put to better use.

Grammar is important Tashy. It saves lives; Let's eat, Grandma... could be so much worse for poor old Granny without that comma.
And let's not even consider without it what helping your uncle Jack, off a horse might become...

Basic errors in something as permanent as signwriting are shocking in my opinion, the sad thing is that the people who paid for it didn't themselves know how wrong it looks.

That is what i totally agree with. But typing this has given me three soddin spell check incorrect words ( and two wrongly spelt corrections) sorry three ( I spelt corrections wrong 😂) but on here I don't get it, out there I do ( three ) especially when I have paid for it.

PS, of we did not have edit post, you would think I had dyslexia when posting.

PPS Swop of for if.

Ah the forum spelling nazis.. if all you can offer is a grammar or spelling correction, then dont bother offering at all. Altough it's usually the same old faces on here with their dics outs.
