Have been fixated on ap2 irons recently, just focussing on which shaft. I think i can live with stiff but psychologically feel better with regular. Then....someone got me to try rocketblaydez and now i am cast back into doubt. They seem very good! Any thoughts appreciated.

try both somewhere with a decent trackman (or similar), both clubs and lots of shaft options and buy based on what gives you the best numbers.

For example, i have the rocketbladez, the standard rocketfuel shafts were awful for me, i ended up with KBS tour shafts, but tried about 8-10 different iron shafts to get there.

My regular playing partner has the 714 AP2's and they are lovely

If you're not sure of the best shaft, I'd personally plump for a fitting and get your ideal spec in that club head. That way you'll remove any doubt you may have about having the correct shaft.

As all shafts have different playing profiles, you're best getting a professional check in my view.

I think you should get away from the idea you need stiff or regular, because through Titleist custom fitting, there are a load of different shafts available with different playing characteristics and regular in one type may equate to stiff in another.

Some people take the view that the shaft weight is more important than flex, and the idea of lighter but stiffer shafts is getting popular in both woods and irons as a way of maintaining control but getting maximum speed. I have a friend who has a driver speed of about 100mph and he plays lightweight X flex, as fitted by a Tour van fitter.

Just something to consider, I have TM RBZ tour irons........they dont hold their price well. If you change your irons on a regular basis then the AP2s hold their price much better.

You really want the shaft to help you. Many players I know use stiff shafts and no way is it helping some of them. Take your time.

Callaway Apex Forged (not the Apex pros) . . . . Had mine for a couple of weeks now and love them. Forgivness and feel rolled into one.

All good helpful advice. Does anyone know a good fitting/trackman type place in the south east? Preferably, west or north of london

Couple in Epsom area.

Pachesam seems good, but no personal experience.

Silvermere - probably my recommendation in this case.

Precision in Egham if you want the Rolls Royce service/price
