I have a tee time booked for tomorrow at 8:37 at the Hirsel GC on Coldstream.

The tee time has been pre paid under a special discount which was effectively 1p so there is no green fee. Myself and my mate are heading down but two of our crew have dropped out so there is space if anyone is in the area and would like to join us.

It's a dank day here today and a bit murky.

Greens renovation work was completed on Friday past but the recovery has been good. They will putt fairly slow due to cutters only being set at 5mm but hopefully the guys will still enjoy their games.

Good to see the place busy and the clubhouse staff have been run off their feet so far.

It was a great little trip down to Coldstream today.

A very early start and initially we were worried about the fog but once we arrived at Hirsel it was pretty clear. The first few putts were indeed were left short but we quickly adjusted and started to hole a few.

Really enjoyed it though and loved the fact that on a good few of the holes you had to have a think about what club to play, also loved the 90 yard par 3, trickier than it sounds.

A great deal by the golf club and a good friendly service in the clubhouse, will certainly try an get back down.

I love that par 3, the 10th. My old club used to do an annual trip there, Texas Scramble in the morning, Stableford in the afternoon. Rather than do the usual 9 holes in the morning we included the 10th because it was so much fun. For those who don't know it, the hole is 93-98yds according to the website, off a very elevated tee (think top of a hill to the bottom) with a number of bunkers around it. You basically take a very lofted club, chuck it up high and wait anxiously for it to drop. Loads of fun and far better than the nonsense 200yds plus par 3's that seem to be so common now.

I am pleased the weather didn't spoil it for you and the course remains as good as I remember it.
