Hi all
This weekend we had our club championship (2 day event).

The high's: I won the ladies nett trophy :)

now the low's: firstly, I had 2 of the worse rounds I have played this year, day 1 nett 83, day 2 nett 77, I couldn't get the ball off the ground at all, my driving (tee shots, not the car ;)) has gone all haywire and my iron play has gone down the pan.
secondly, the course was in a terrible state considering the good weather we have had over the last week, the fairways may aswell have been light rough, the light rough was so thick you could have dropped a football in it and lost it and the tee boxes looked as though they hadn't seen a mower in ages, the walk ways to the tee boxes were like fields, the only good part of the course were the greens which were great, needless to say that a letter is being sent to the course owner and head greenkeeper expressing the members utter disappointment and disgust of the course this last week particularly with club championship this weekend, the most important competition of the year, nobody came in with a below par score on either day, which is very unusual as pass years the course has always been primed the week or so before club championship so it is at it's very best and 2/3 members always come in under par.
I appreciate that the greenkeeping staff have been short staffed this week but surely you would have thought the course would have been a priorty not the resurfacing of the car park.
Lastly it rained today and I got soaked.

But I am still a happy bunny knowing I will get my name up on the board and have got a lovely crystal bowl to show off. ;)

Congratulations regardless of your score compared to Par you beat the rest of the field and that is the most important part, you were clearly closer to your handicap than anyone else so well done for handling the tough conditions.

And trust me your driving can be nowhere near as bad as mine on Saturday!

I don't know htl, Saturday I wasn't even clearing 50yds and the 1 that did sliced badly, Sat night I went to the range with hubby and tried to sort it out, today managed about only about 6 half decent ones
Here's to more, more and wait for it, more practice.

Thx eaglehunter,
due to the conditions it was tough going, I've never had a game quite like it and was glad when the 18th came and went and once cleaned up could tuck into the BBQ and a steaming cup of hot choccy :)

Barb,

Well done fair maiden. Good to see all that practice over the last few months come to fruition. Doesn't matter what you score as lon as you beat those playing against you. Hope th BBQ and choccie lifted your spirits. Enjoy keeping the prize nice and clean!

The hot choccie was because I was cold and wet but had a shandy afterwards ;) and I get to keep my crystal bowl, the main trophy will stay in the cabinet in the clubhouse.
I do feel very pleased with myself though

As mentioned earlier, in this sort of competition the score is completely irrelevent and how you made it even more so!!
Of course everyone wants to play well but to win a "Major" playing badly - well just think how you would have mashed the rest of them if you'd been playing well!!

All Hail Queen Barb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
