Playing in some sort of competition there on sunday. Anyone played it? Is it any good? Just wondering what to expect.

Service levels are as high as they come, the course will be in immaculate condition, greens will be quick and the facilities are excellent. The course itself is a little underwhelming design wise imo, its pleasant enough but nothing to write home about and very few memorable holes, oh and the beer/food/other drinks arent cheap!

I played there in an HSBC tournament in February and loved everything about it - it did help that my partner and I won it!

Some lovely holes, even in winter and as Fundy says the service is exceptional and I think the prices were too if the sponsors hadn't paid for food and drink

This too is all expenses paid. looking forward to it

Oh, is it long? Think we're off the gravel too!

I thought it a very fair course and with some long driving holes. I was there the first day on the WGC and saw Tiger play the shot to the 18th - best shot I've seen. The holes were a bit switched round from that time and you'll enjoy it for sure

Played it in spring last year on the New Golf Thinking Day and it was very well presented indeed, felt that the holes were fair and a good test of golf as long as you can keep it straight. certainly felt able to score
I remember the rough being quite wispy and not too hard to find an errant ball

Service was exceptional as previously mentioned

Its mega expensive, so most people only play it as part of a corporate event, tis a golf course without any members

It's overrated and overpriced. The back on black competition is the most cost effective way to play it as it's cheaper than the standard green fee and you get a few goodies thrown in. I wanted to play it to see what all the fuss was about and I wasn't blown away. To me it's just another american style parkland course along the lines of the Oxfordshire or ESN.

I played it with Kylie Minogue's boyfriend, sadly she wasn't there to walk round with him.

I also played that day as part of the New Golf Thinking. And apart from having to go round with Phil and Homer it was top notch. Enjoy. ;)

I played there with Hacker and Fragger, the greens were about 10.5 on the stimp in April, so I'd expect them to be lightening by now, the hole edge was razor sharp, the ball had to be pretty much in the middle when putting, anything else and it rolled on by or lipped out. Some nice holes and some meh holes. Facilities wise second to none.

Service is exceptional. Facilities are first class - what you would expect from a high-end hotel/resort. As you'd therefore also expect, food and drink very expensive.

Course will be in immaculate condition with the greens incredibly slick, but also very true. Whilst there are not many holes that have the 'wow' factor, there aren't any IMO that leave you underwhelmed.

I'm also led to believe it's the best links course in the country…………
