I remember seeing one 2-3 years ago on the euoropean tour, can't remember who it was, but they tugged their tee shot badly left into the tree's, it rattled around then came out, couple of bounces and in the hole...I think he won a car with it as well.

No doubt it was lucky, but I want to know how that physically happened? How would a ball nestle down in the rough and then suddenly spin out.

Looks like quite a slope behind the green so I guess the ball was nestling against the grass until gravity took over.

Because the slope is so steep I would have thought it had something to do with the fringe height of grass being slowly compressed by the weight of the ball until gravity took over and it just fell. Back spin possibly but it was stationary there a little too long for me, but is possible.
May even have been a little unseen breeze down there helping it along. ;)
