Going on from my previous post regarding change from glasses to contacts, I went out for the first time wearing contacts last night, still on my trial but wanted to give golf a go.

I scored 37 points. We'd started at 5.15 so was fairly light vision was perfect. I was hitting fairways and not getting into to much trouble if i was off them, about 12 GIR if they didnt hit the green they were only fringe or around the edges. Was striking the ball really well and I felt confident as I could see!

Struggled to putt and often 3 putted, leaving me with bogeys which wasn't to bad in the grand scheme of things.

Once we'd got to 16 I was on 33 points, but it was starting to get dark. I hit a great tee shot that looked safe but couldn't find it, so ended up blobbing. Took a 6 for 2 points on the 17th with my current handicap being 19.5 I had an extra shot, but I should have had gross 4 for par. And bogeyed 18, lipping out a short 3 foot putt for par.

Was a great round and really helped by having contact lenses in... If you get the opportunity, do it!

I wear specs and have contact lenses for holidays and swimming but never wear them for golf. But i'm curious, your new, trial contact lenses; are they the same pescription as your specs?

If so, what was the actual difference you felt - was it just comfort or simply not having a load of metal in your peripheral vision?

I wear contacts at weekends and when playing, daily disposables and once i got the hang of them never looked back.

My prescription is just a little less than my glasses (but only in 1 eye) as dailys cant correct astigmatism 100% but hardly noticable really i say go for a free trial at least.

Yeah they are perscription, my left eye has an astigmatism so is a different style of contact lens. Going back tomorrow for final check before ordering. They are daily disposables as well.

Standing over the ball, you didnt have that gap between your cheek and frames where you can see clearly and not clearly, didnt have to keep rearranging them, didnt get a sore head from wearing them like ive started to with glasses. lining up putts similar to standing over the ball, you didnt have two visions.

ive changed to conacts a few monhs ago too. Much better for golfing than glasses. You get a better all round vision and dont hae o keep adjusting them like glasses. I found it easier to follow ball flight too for some reason.

How much astigmatism do you have? I have 4 cyls of astigmatism in my left eye, and 2.75 in my right. The most correction I can find in a daily lens is 2.25 (Acuvue). I use non-toric daily disposables when skiing, and they are fine for that, but I can't focus on close stuff (eg. reading) when wearing them - so filling in a score card might be a problem!
