is in safe hands if we have more juniors like eaglehunter (you can blush now).
a great afternoons golf as eagles guest at The Gog Magog (see below).
Ok the golf wasn't sparkling as the drives deserted both of us so we did spend some time in the Cambridgeshire countryside. However I think we both made enough good shots around the plot not to be too despondent and to come away with a few if onlys. (though the memory of one set of bunkers shall be forever cast into the darkness!)
But an afternoon spent in good company, with the sun on your back is not to be lightly forgotten. Very many thanks eagle, and should you (and your dad) wish to test the waters you will be more than welcome.
For those who believe that Cambridgeshire is all flat fenland let me disabuse you. The Gog Magogs is a range of high land South East of Cambridge. The Club of that name has two fine 18 hole courses (one used for championship qualifiers) laid out in such a way that if you wish to wimp out after 9 holes you have a damn long walk back. It has some terrific practice areas, (unfortunately I think we left our best putts down there), a huge club house and bar. It also has a Halfway House at the junction of the 9th/10th of both courses, something I have not seen before. If, as today, you are fortunate as to chose a day when this is open you may find the ladies dispensing tea/coffee homemade cakes, freshly cooked sausage and bacon rolls and on a day like this freshly homemade lemonade.
I would recommend to any of you travelling to the region to play these courses, I think they will stand up with some of the best.
