Kellfire
Blackballed
I was playing in our rabbits team yesterday and after going three down after four, I called a penalty on a guy on the fifth who clearly knew what he had done was wrong (hit his own bag) but was trying to pull a fast one by hoping neither my partner or I knew that was a penalty. Without the penalty stroke he'd have halved the hole. His mood dropped and he went from non-stop chat to blanking me for a couple of holes.
A few holes later he basically accused me of lying about getting a par to win a hole because I'd had to chip out sideways from the trees on a par 5.
"Four to the green? You were all over the place mate."
I walked him through my four shots and he just grunted acceptance and headed off to chat with his team mate, presumably to see if he'd seen me take any shots I hadn't disclosed.
Then he tried to get us to agree to walk off when the weather turned a bit ropey.
"We can't play in the rain, we'll just go off, yea?"
Needless to say my partner and I didn't agree to that.
On the 18th, which we won to win 1 up, he didn't stop mouthing off saying he'd never seen such robbery (we'd pegged them back to actually sneak one up just after the turn before they won three on the bounce to go two up after 15) and we'd never win like that again. He failed to comment on his playing partner, playing off 23, getting about 8 or 9 pars. Robbery indeed.
He trudged straight to his car and drove off, skipping the meal organised for after the match.
Why do people like this play golf?
