Reading all the noise etc Slot was staying at the club until late last week , all those with connections to the club and ex players etc were saying he was staying, they were getting a new coach and they were talking about which players and even Slot seems to have believed that he was staying

But something changed towards the end of last week and it was a change

Iraola was talking to Ac Milan about their job

I'm absolutely sure that it was the players that got him sacked.
No real secret.

Well by their performances on the pitch especially the last month most definitely

It’s a shame he wasn’t stronger with Salah back in December and binned him off then after he went running to the media , he allowed Salah to control that narrative and it’s prob cost him

Let’s hope the playars don’t do the same for the new guy

Re Slot there’s something I cannot get my head round. He inherited a fantastic squad, spent a fortune and went backwards. Yet Pep is accused of inheriting good squads and buying trophies 🤔
Slot is not the first or last to inherit good squads and fail. It don’t guarantee success.

That said, be interested to hear from the Liverpool fans where they think it went wrong.
2 things Tash me man, first season bought 1 player, Chiesa, hardly used him, changed very little initially, players knew their role, City had a bad season, Lpool won the PL.

Second season, imo, completely changed the way they played, bought too many at once, got found out.

The discussion last season, as Liverpool’s form dipped, revolved around style of play and Salah’s form falling off a cliff. On reflection, maybe Slot lost the dressing room. If the guy giving the pre-match team talk grinds your gears you won’t be fully motivated… just a thought…

Maybe Salah was actually right. Maybe the DoF, if you have one, should have stepped in and told Slot he was spoiling a good bunch of players…?

Not sure failure is the right word when in the last two seasons he has won a title 🤷‍♂️

Slot going shows a lot about the modern sack culture and not giving a manager too much time

What went wrong this season

Squad harmony was hurt
Wrong playars maybe arriving and the wrong ones leaving
New players not settling
Tactics wrong
Energy levels low

Everything that could go wrong did

If you swap his two seasons around - transition then winning the title , it’s all good

Slash was dropped in December after a poor run of form , results and performances improved without him , think we were unbeaten without him in the team

When he finished the AFCON he should have been waiting for his chance to play but he went straight back in and continued to stink up the place

Brilliant, talk about spin😵‍💫.

If he’d of had this season first you wouldn’t of had the players that won you the title.😂😂

I feel a little bit for Slot in that the new players either were injured a lot or played poorly.
Couple that with huge downturns in form for the 2 main players (Salah & Virgil) and most other players being not quite as good as year before it made it tough for him.
He didn’t seem to know though how to change things to get them playing better
It seemed to be pick the same side each week and hope it was better than last week.
In my opinion getting rid was the best choice for the club more on performances than results though

He ruined Guns’N’Roses with the same attitude.😬

Agreed, if yous had had a 2nd or 3rd finish he’d still be there, but on paper it’s been a bad season for yous, regardless of getting CL qualification.

Unfortunately, clubs like yourselves, Utd, Even Arsenal and City, CL qualification should be almost a given each season.

Cup wins are good (would be a dream for some of us) but ultimately it’s PL Titles that matter and challenging for it.

My point, which you appear to have missed, is did Salah’s form dip because of the manager? Salah was too good a player for his form to fall so far, there has to be a reason for that.

Salahs form was starting to dip last season as well , think it was 1 goal in the last 10 games maybe , he had one last great season and prob should have left in the summer , you could see his legs going , poor touch etc - he hit a wall

The club prob tried to move on from him because you can’t build a team around someone mid 30’s

What was his game based on? Getting that half yard on the defender, getting a shot away. When he can't get that half yard, does he have enough left? Some players can still manage when losing that edge, currently, he can't. He will go to a lower, slower league next season and may do okay. No one in the PL is rushing to sign him though.

I think it was more to do with social media.
Salah stuck the knife in with his end of season comment about 'heavy metal football', which I thought was a bit of a cheap shot as he was just about to leave the club, but many other Liverpool players then 'liked' his comments, showing that they also weren't happy with what Slot was doing.
I think that was the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak, not their lacklustre performances.

Yeah that’s about the sum of it , losing that little bit of pace just seemed to help him lose his edge , he still could deliver a good ball in but when you give someone £450k a week you want more , hindsight is great but giving him the extension looks the wrong choice
