Easily the greatest jockey ever, as well as being more dominant in his sport than anyone else has ever been, the final race for AP McCoy in a second!

One of the greatest sportsmen/women ever?

Watched the last few races. Great to see so many people there to give him a great send off and he looked quite emotional (as did his wife) at the end. To dominate as tough a sport as that for so long must make him one of the greatest sportsmen we've seen

Legend.

I bet he is gonna be eating well over the next few weeks. It will be like having a new life :D

Hope he stays in the sport in some capacity.

It brought a tear to my eye today watching that today.

We won't see another jockey like him.

Thanks for all those odds on loser's AP!!

Honest question.

How much is the jockey and how much is the horse?

The issue is horse's aren't machines, some are very temperamental, some are lazy and need pushing from word go. Some just perform.

The better jock's settle the awkward one's and get the best out of them.

I backed him twice on Saturday, absolute rubbish. Won't be backing him again!!

Are people not being a bit parochial here? McCoy did not rule across the world, only in the UK and Ireland. He is not comparable to a world wide sportsman. Undoubtedly one of the top of his sport and his record is phenomenal but it is in a narrow field.

Best jump jockey there has ever been and a top bloke to boot

Can never over estimate how good he was

When it comes to jump races the top ones are in Ireland and UK

As opposed to the flat where there are of course some major races in U.S. , Dubai , France and Australia

I was fortunate enough to have been at Sandown on Saturday. Unbelievable atmosphere and reception for an unbelievable jockey. I genuinely can't see how he will ever be matched in his sport.

(Even more fortunate with 3 winners and a place from 6 but thats another story!)

To a certain degree, NH racing is UK and Ireland based. How many worldwide events elsewhere are there? He has been the best in his field for two decades. How many sportsmen dominate for that long either at home (as you imply) or across their sport
