The dreaded....bogey hole

Look at New Golf Thinking either as a Kindle book or as a paperback. No such things as a bogey hole. Sounds like you need to change your thought process and course management (in the nicest possible way) and use your shots

What happens when there is no shot to be used?
My mental game is fine, but the fact is this particular hole is just a hard slog. Nothing more than that, it'll take me for a bogey 5/10.

Have to be honest, off your handicap I'm sure you make a few birdies and plenty of pars and so as long as you make no worse than bogey I don't see a problem. Every hole can be played and thinking of it as a "bogey" is surely putting negativity into the mind whether consciously or not

Shots on particular holes are a bit of a myth and people would do much better forgetting about them or stableford points. During a round of golf you are going to drop shots, where you drop them isn't important. It really doesn't matter if you double bogey SI18 in the same way it doesn't matter if you birdie SI1, they are just 2 of 18 holes. If you play well you'll play to or better than your handicap, what you do on a particular hole where you may or may not get a shot is irrelevent.

There's no such thing as a bogey hole, just a weak mind.

Correct.
Mine goes a bit funny when I step onto the 5th tee at Blackmoor.
Doesn't matter how good a drive I hit down there, I always cock up my second shot, normally topping it into the ditch in front of me.....

I think I've only ever scored 2 points on that hole, and that was the last time I played there.

P.S. The next hole does me in too. And usually the one after that.
Come to think of it, I don't know why I ever bloody bother to go down there.
:D
