The one I saw was, Smith to open and Rew to bat and keep at 7I think we can put the "James Rew to open for England" debate to bed for a while. Not a great experiment for Somerset.

2 innings - the 2nd one was worse than the first. He isn’t an opener and him being an opener isn’t something I would suggest , he should be in as the Wk/batsmen
But even then it’s one innings![]()

You might not suggest it, but apparently it was something that the England management were looking at and that is why he was promoted this match.
I am actually saying he is not an opener, England should not be trying to make him one - not yet anyway.Even then it’s still just two innings - not sure why the negativity around him , he is a quality young player who should be given a chance at his best position and not a standard England fudge because they don’t have the balls to drop favourites
There are some young quality openers in the county game - Gay and Tribe two who should be tried
The girls were missing a couple of 1st choice players. Good warm ups for 20-20 World Cup on home soilNervy 1st international match since last October for England. Scraped the win but good display from Charlie Dean and some of the debutants. Big summer coming up.
Absolutely a superb appointment
Well Ollie Robinson is back in the team now so she certainly has a challenge on her hands!Absolutely a superb appointment

The bowling looked awesome - Hants were at 90-2 going at 10 an over and were reduced to 158 all out on a 200+ pitch; Overton's over removing both Vince and Prest in the space of 3 balls effectively won the match in the 13th over of the 1st innings.Great start to our T20 Blast defence giving Hants a bit of a slapping
Some great bowling backed up with some crisp batting to win comfortably

We'll see how we go but I'm optimistic despite still thinking Dickson and Green are a significant loss. The batting is by far the strongest in the country: the top 4 all have valid international claims in one format or another, the no.5 is the country's new wunderkid, and the fact that the no. 10 has scored two Championship hundreds this year alone shows the depth of the batting order is ridiculous. It's just a given by now that we're always the best fielding unit in the country; we're simply never outfielded. It was actually the bowling that worried me this year, but CraigO and Ball were excellent last night, and Sams looked like a rock solid addition. Really hope Gregory's body holds up and Lammers can work on his bowling enough that he's a valid 4 over option as that makes the depth/options so much greater with 6 full bowlers. Given that Hants are supposedly the 2nd best team in the country, maybe I should book my ticket to yet another Finals Day already?
Oh, and leaving the inevitable overseas player aside, 9 of 10 are home grown talent: other Counties take note on how to get to and stay at the top.
20/20 is an absolutely wild format though, especially in lower scoring English conditions (3 good bat swings can turn a match on its head) so we'll see how things pan out.
Yeah, I went to school a little further north and we thought we were pretty decent - beat all the other local schools, both state and independent, pretty easily (except Wells who were a decent challenge and had a nice ground) - but playing Millfield was an exercise in getting battered and realising cricket wasn't going to be a career for any of us. Had a look round Millfield once (had a mate who went there); their cricket facilities are unreal - I'll bet they're better facilities than many County setups - and they've got even better since.
