The cheating long putter appreciation thread

Right, Well I got a belly putter (YES Sandy) yesterday and decided to try it out in a comp today – yes I though it was going to be a disaster ….but …. I think im a convert!

Raced to the 8th -3 gross, thinking I was tiger woods! Only finished +2 but suprisngly it wasn’t the putter that let me down. It was solid, good for judging distance, but what I found more impressive was that I could take it away so smooth and more confident.

Obviously it’s the honeymoon period but the fundamentals of it really improved my stroke, so even if next round I hole nothing, il still be more confident that im putting the stroke on the ball that I want to.

Really happy with it to be honest. Going to burn my driver tho

My current putter 1st time out...... 25 putts, 72 gross after triple at first, won the cup on the day. Has it happened since??? Answers on a postcard ....

Still agreat putter though. It just might, just might perform again... one day. :D :D

good point, however i think its actually changed my technique and improved my stroke. I dnt expect to putt liuke a god but i do expect to start the ball on its intended target more often.

Im not recommending a change to anyone but i cn see good things about the method

Nice line muttlee. I converted to a yes Amy last year and was convinced it was the best thing I'd done, after 6 months it had to be replaced. It's amazing how in any clubs honeymoon period their great and behave better than we could imagine.

Re the Op, did you have much choice when looking for one? I had toyed with the idea but couldn't find any local shops that stocked any at all!

AG in Milton Keynes has a 2nd hand Belly Putter in - Ping I think. HAd a few putts with it - just felt awful!
I'd need a LOT of practice to be able to take one out on the course.
Plus I'm not a believer in Belly or Broomhandler's!!

But if it's legal and it works, then all power to your elbow Sir!!

Dont forget that owing to the size of your belly, you have to hold it at arms length

Never going to work :D :D :D :D

I thought you'd have mentioned it wouldn't fit in the new car ;)

I use a 2ball belly putter and I love it!

They do take some getting used to but I no longer see putting as the weakest part of my game.....

I know that they're not that popular but it works for me.
