The Ceremony of a Forum Meet

1. Working out who in the carpark/clubhouse you are meeting (especially if its just two people meeting up).

2. The cup of tea and bacon roll

3. Getting changed, ready and warmup.

4. Hitting it perfectly on the range

5. Duffing the first tee shot.

6. Having a laugh, enjoying a good day out.

7. Drying off (usually required) and talking over every shot afterwards.


Most of us have done them, from just two hackers meeting up, a fourball scrapping out a match to a big meet of 8 to 80 guys!

What else happens in the ceremony of a forum meet in your experience?

I think Hobbit is an anagram of knob..? Many forumers are surprised that I am only 4'6" tall and have red hair.

Member recognition is always tricky, Having been around for a while, I know many of the usual suspects, maybe we should have name badges with our Forum names on them.

I remember meeting Birchy at the last H4H Curry evening before the main event, next day had to ask who he was again as the brain cell wasnt awake, The look on his face said it all

In terms of ceremony, there has to be a prize giving and a speech from the organizer and there has to be lots of good natured jeering, and it is also a Rule at the H4H that Richart and his Missus need to be bidding against each other for the same lot

Rick G will have problems with his latest "Aston Martin" Golf trolley and Murph and GB72 will try to outdo each other in the trouser stakes
