The Buffoon that Keps on Buffooning!

yep, the buffoonery kinda worked when he was Mayor of London and doing the Olympics but Foreign Secretary is a role for a tactful considered deep thinker, not a good role for talk first think later BJ, May needs to reshuffle once she's got article 50 underway and move Boris to Minister for Sport or equivalent.

I do wonder if she gave him that job so he could simply self destruct and people that thought he was amusing and credible could finally see him for the buffoon that he is. So far the plan is going well. Let's hope she gets rid of him before he actually does any real damage.

I used to think the buffoonery was an act and behind the front was a highly intelligent man. He is consistently proving me wrong.

The cynic in me thinks May gave him that job because she knows he will hang himself soon enough and have to resign from the cabinet, then she is finally rid of him.

Thing is, on this subject at least, he's quite right. How depressing that our governments official stance is not to criticise Saudi Arabia. It really should be a pariah state for its despicable human rights record.

easy to live in lala land and never offend anyone by sitting on the fence.

Just like it is easy to make a thread taking the populist view on politics and culture.

He is being castigated for telling things as they are. Does anyone on here defend Saudi's human rights or politics.

Hahahahahahahahahhahahahahhaha............ breathe.............. hahahahahahaha.......

Just loving the title. As much as I don't like Boris, if you're going to throw stones at least get the spelling right.

Don't think anyone is criticising him for being right, least of all the main opposition parties who agree with Boris on this occasion, but his utterances are yet another example of this Governments left hand not knowing what the right hand is up to.

On the one hand I admire he's tell it how it is gung ho approach but as someone as a career politician and in such an important position you'd think he'd know how to play the game and be clever with what he says and how it gets leaked into the media. Clearly not and he's on borrowed time I think

So do you prefer politicians who do not speak their minds? A lot of people are suggesting that's what Makes Corbyn electable.

Well spotted. The pedant King gets it wrong

When you're a backbench MP you can say what you like. When you're the Foreign Secretary you have to toe the party line, especially when others in your party are intending to negotiate trade deals with the country you're attacking.

The PM knew exactly what she was doing when she appointed BJ, its just a matter of how many times he'll shoot himself in the foot before he resigns.

I prefer a government where ministers can speak their mind in cabinet, but that once a policy is agreed that ministers then follow that policy. What we appear to have is an autocratic though weak PM who does not allow debate in private but then allows ministers to make statements contrary to Government policy without apparent repurcussions. In a post brexit world this will only leave us weaker when trying to influence the direction of the world moves in.

It is all very well saying things as they are - but the UK has to have an agreed policy towards, and for dealing with, countries such as Saudi - so that all parties in the UK can work in a coordinated, consistent and coherent way with that country. So for instance, and whether you like the company or not, the bosses at the major UK manufacturing and services company BAESystems, will not be overly pleased or impressed with these words of wisdom from our FS.

Johnson can choose to say what he wants - he can control that, and maybe that is exactly what he is doing for his own ends, but he cannot control the reaction of the Saudis and others that he seems determined to upset with his 'plain speaking'. And if the reaction of the Saudis were that they cancelled pending or existing contracts with BAESystems with the potential loss of thousands of UK manufacturing and services jobs - what then Johnson? He may be clever - but he is a disingenuous buffoon playing a dangerous game.
