If you could play any hole in Golf what would it be? For me it would have to be the 17th at Sawgrass. Or what is your favourite hole. Here is a plan of the 17th if anyone is not aware of it.

Yes I know how its a gimmick hole, but how good is it to watch and you have to admit you all want to play it!

Don't think we have done this before? If we have sorry, lets try again.

My best/favourite hole...

would have to be the 17th on the Old Coures.

I'd pay the green fee alone just to knock it

over the corner of the hotel (old engine sheds)

then a second shot to that green...big bunker,

front left. Put me down for a 5....

Its a toss up between the 12th and the 16th at Augusta for me. Probably the 12th as there is more skill in getting it close than the 16th.

There are so many to choose from. Good shout about Augusta and the Road Hole. There are loads including the 18th at Doral, 10th at the Belfry, 18th at Carnoustie, or the Postage Stamp. All have their own characterisitcs and you could make a fabulous composite world 18 but my favourite is probably the 1st at St Andrews. Not thh hardest hole in the world but just the feeling of starting a round at the epitomy of golf and trying to make a good shot with everyone watching (even mideweek there is always someone around). Then there is the second over the burn and if the pin is cut at the front it can be tricky for mortals like me.

Its a spectacular hole alright but when you see how many tour pros end up in the pond during a tournament it makes it a gimmick of golf and little more.

I have lots of favorites but to mention a couple quick would have to be The road hole St Andrews the 18th at Belfry, 16th Agusta and I like the 14th at our club and three or four holes at Woodhall. But I could list loads. I played one course years ago and cannot remember the dam thing but it had a wonderful par 3 with very elevated green, pond between and bunkers galore with a two tier undulating putting surface that was very hard to master.I loved it.

I think its so hard to pick?! Even picking the worlds greatest 18 holes is a challenge! I'd love to play Sawgrass, i've just got back from America and on the plane home the pillot said congratulations to some bloke who had holed a 40 ft putt for a 2 on the 17th at Sawgrass! How good a memory is that to have? And if you tell other golfers about something like that, they know exactly how good a 2 it is!

Regarding the 17th at Sawgrass, did you know the path from the 16th to the 17th was redesigned recently (prior to this year's Players) so that the players have the hole in their line of sight from the moment they leave the 16th green.

What a great (albeit sadistic) idea!

This is not the greatest hole in the word but its up their with the best of em in terms of fun I've had on a golf course.

If you've not played or heard of the magical 12 hole course on the Isle of Arran then here the link, I recommend that you all try it before your time on this earth is over!

I think you've put pictures the same hole up for Letham grange Craw, Do you mean the 8th and 10th?
Both are beautiful holes indeed.
Also, is that the 15th at Kingsabarns?

Should have been the 10th as well as 8th.

Kingsbarns indeed my friend.

If I could play any hole I think I'd go for the 15th at Augusta. I'm intrigued to see how many attempts it would take to get on the green in two (and keep it there)!
