Hi all

Back in april I played at the belfry for a mates stag do... we had a round on the derby and the following day the pga. Loved the place.

I've booked up again for the £99 deal with the father in law and am due to play the derby and the brabazon in a couple of weeks time.

Anything I should know about the brabazon? Any hints? Tips?

The rough was pretty tough so accuracy a premium. Didn't actually rate the Belfry that highly on the list of championship courses but its nice to tick it off the list. A few good holes but a couple of bland ones too but I guess you can say that about most places. I am sure you'll have a great time and it should be at its best. Greens might be a tad quick especially if we get some warm weather

WATER, WATER, WATER!!! Sorry I had abit of a moment there

There is a lot of liquid hanging around there mate but you should love the course, very different to the PGA. I'm playing it again next Friday as I get a free four ball on there every year and with 3 of us being members there it means we get 3 rounds a year for free

I really like the PGA but its probably down to me playing it every week and knowing the course well.

Have fun mate

The starter will advise best tees for your group. Just relax and enjoy after that.

And have a go at 10 even if it's for fun with a 2nd ball!

Oh to add most of the clubhouse has been ripped out and redone. SAMs bar looks great now. The range has also been restocked with brand new Nike practice balls so it will be worth a bash.

When I played the PGA we had driving wind, rain, hail, sun.... the whole lot. I was scared standing over a tee shot for the first time in my life..... the 3rd I think it was, I was brave and took on the water.... risk/success!

I'm a bit worried about the in law as he's not playing well at the moment. Hope we don't get thrown off....

Would it have been the par 3 3rd? Ha Ha not bad on a calm day but a nightmare when the weathers bad, anything a foot short of the front of the green often rolls down to the water and anything left or right leaves a horrible deep bunker shot. Go long and its a quick downhill putt lol I love the hole though...

As for your in law, don't worry about it. Put pressure on your selfs and you will not enjoy the experience...

Here's what you have to look forward to...

Ahh no it was the 4th then.... but I had an equally torrid time on the par 3. I remembrr that it was blowing a gale so I tried a 5 iron punch into the green and stuck it in the bunker on the left...... I swear my house isn't as tall as that bunker is deep. Luckily I nailed my bunker shot and 2 putted....... good times, good memories.

Oh yeah the 4th can be a tough hole aswell, in nice weather the driver will carry the water and bounce into the lake behind so you have to hit a very good iron over the water or lay up to the side. On a bad day I just pray to The Lord above. I love the PGA but the rough isn't nice at the moment, knee high in most places

Just so you are not disappointed....

Prepare to be disappointed! :D Several very good holes, but not what I would consider a great course. Normally well presented though.

Good value at that price.

Lay up on the 10th. But play a 'Provisional'!

Perhaps, because it's the FiL, declare the nightclub OOB - if it's still there!

yeah the night club is still there.....ooh dear.....and he already knows my plans for the 10th, gotta go for it!

You didnt 3 putt it then? :-/

Depends on how you look at it doesn't it, if I was on for a round then would I have one handed the 1 footer and missed? Doubt it so if you class it as a virtual gimmie but I still gave it a bash then a 4. If we are getting technical then a 5 either way it was for nothing.

As Hovis said we played the Brab together last week and it was in fantastic condition. Be careful of the lake on the 3rd though it can be dangerous can't it Hovis? ;)
