Just had a torrid 24 hours.

Yesterday on the last 4 holes of our mixed match I had 3 brutal shanks completely out of the blue. Walking off the course I thought I'd try and dispel the fear and hit 2 balls down towards the car park. They both left the club on a 45 degree trajectory.

I had had a terrible bout of this affliction with every club in the bag 12 years ago resulting in me nearly jacking the game in.

But, brothers and sisters... I survived! Everybody say "Amen"

But here's the thing.

I fretted about yesterday's abominations all night and played a KO team match today.

On the 2nd I attempted an 8-iron bump and run off a really short backswing. I shanked it. I then tried to hit a 60 degree wedge to get me out of the disaster. I shanked it!

Terror set in and I could hardly bring a club back after this. I was about as much use to my partner as a chocolate fire guard until the turn.

Thankfully on the back nine I managed to hit some very good irons but walking off the course having lost 3&2 my head was totally in the mixer.

Question: Where on earth does this most destructive of shots come from, and more spookily, why does thinking about it cause more of the same?

There's not an ounce of sense to this,

It's bad magic I tells ee!!

help!!!

When I get them the weight is moving onto the toes in the swing but there are a myriad of causes. If you keep getting them get a pro to look at you. They are like Russian roulette when you have them knowing another one is in there but just not when it's coming
