This is a post about me venting my feeling about golfers that whack and break there clubs on course.

I have a friend that every week does this. Even if he does somehting good he still moans.

In some ways i can see where he is coming from when he is drawing a sand wedge. This really annoys him.

He has broke his new wilson staff spine driver, 4 irons, 3 wood, 5 wood, hybrid and a putter all in 2 months.

Is there any rules about this or what should I do it really irritates me and the lads.

thanks

connor

Just tell him you will not be prepared to play with him if he carries on. I dont mind people having a moan and a strop on the course, as long as its not OTT. I have done it, I dont anymore, its a waste of energy.

Once he gets the message no one wants to play with him, he will soon wind his neck in!

I have a bit of sympathy. I have broken an awful lot of sticks in my time. Every time I think I have cured it, it comes to the top again.
To me, you either break clubs, or you don't. There is no cross over. Those who don't will never get it. Those who do, will always be prone to it.

The key thing is, if you are prone to losing your rag, do it quickly, then cheer up. Tigers 5 yard rule is good. Nothing worse that 4 hours with a miserable git.

Oh, and chuck your clubs forward, so it is easy to go get them.

I can't afford to do it daily, so I have to budget for it, and do it at a measured rate.

I have also lost a putter up a tree.

This didn't count as a breakage, as it was intact, it just took 3 weeks to get it down.

Its one thing having a good moan, it can do us all some good, if used in a constructive way.

However...

Breaking expensive equipment. In-fact breaking any equipment, leads me to the same conclusion as Homers. The lad is just spoilt.

He has no understanding of the waste, or the value (On all levels, not just money),of something; he himself has not paid for. After all, his very expensive equipment is paid for, by money he's not old enough to earn for himself.

Something really does need to be said to him by someone.

We all loose it sometimes, this cannot be helped on occasion & I'm ebaressed when I've let my emotions get the better of me on the golf course as its not done...! Its not smart, its not clever. The worst I've ever done it throw a wedge after suffering a serious case of the chilli dippers & sending my third sucsessive easy chip exiting stage right straight into a hazard, same angle same spot.

Only club I've ever broken was by accident. To deliberately break clubs, cannot be put up with imo.

Who does the lad think he is?... Tiger? And even Mr Woods, doesn't mindlessly waste equipment.

Is this lad a mate of yours? If he is, then its your responsibility to tactfully let him know he needs to stop making such a fool of himself. If he's no mate. Then tell him what you think of his antics in no uncertain terms, letting him know he needs to find a new playing partner.

Also do you think this is fair i cant join a new club because i dont know any members there. And non of my family play golf.
Mono, in the last month you've bought 35 pro V1s, 1000 practice balls, jumpers, new set of irons, a bag and now you want a new club.
What's next I wonder?
How old are your shoes? :)

Is there any golfer in the club he respects? Arrange a game and see how he behaves. If he loses it the player can give him a roasting and he might listen to him.
Failing that, write to the gran and ask her to stop buying him new stuff
