AT LAST!

It took a while, played last weekend to get my last card in and scored 116 (par 71) luckily I was playing better today and not put off by the people I was playing with.

And the handicap is............... 17

Going to have a few beers and a big lump of Steak to celebrate tonight. Not playing this weekend but cant wait to play in my first club roll up a week Sunday. Gotta kick ass at Ascot and Lydd first! :o

i'm getting my first 3 'official' cards in pretty soon and will be 89, 91 and a 93 and i'm expecting a handicap of about 18.

how does 116 compute to a 17??

(typo, should it have been 27?)

A handicap of 17 sounds ridiculous based on that 116 score alone. As an example, I scored rounds of 101, 98 & 95, against a Par of 66, and was given a handicap of 21.

One was for +11 and the other +13. I have been giving all of my cards in to the pro, even when I have just knocked a ball round on my own so he could get a good idea of where I was.

The 116 was the day after I split up with the Mrs and found out my contract at work is no more from September so I was not really concentrating on the Golf. All I wanted to do was get out the house and hit some balls around, however, I ended up getting placed with the ex captain and his chums, who were "not my cup of tea" shall we say and insisted I put that card in.

17 is right. I have been shooting under 90 consistently for the past few weeks and been playing some decent Golf.

Think I have just cocked up my chances of playing well for next few weeks now ive said that.

I've seen him play a few times. 17 is about right at the moment for stroke play rounds but pure banditry for stablefords

At least he has got an official h/cap now rather than "I think I will play off 22 today" :D

Well done HTL. Just in time for the Lydd meet as well. I expect to see that h/cap tumble.

Hahaha Handicap system is a funny one. I shot two 89's and an 87 which included an Eagle on the 18th and mine is 19 :D

I'm confused and need to ask a couple of questions?

(NB, it's good you've got your h'cap, well done)

You say you played a gross 11 over and 13 over and then a massive blow out. The blow out is irrelevant.

If you got 17 with an 82 and an 84 gross something is way, way wrong....

Please help me understand......

my first 3 cards were around 105 and I was given 28!

Sorry to hear about the missus mate. Think I would have chucked my clubs in the nearest water feature if I was playing a round after that happened!

17 is right. I have been shooting under 90 consistently for the past few weeks and been playing some decent Golf.

Under 90 regularly on a par 71.....any worse-than-doubles?

Was told you could not score was than a double on any hole towards your handicap?

And I have been handing in all my cards regardless of who/when I have played. Its been based upon that and my 3 proper competition cards.

Im happy with it, its where I wanted to be at this time of the year and around the mark I consistently shoot. (well the last few weeks)

I can't wait to see you at Ascot next week off those whites. No shot at the little par 3 8th (I hate it in stablefords). Might have 50p with you. Lydd will be challenging too. Might need to find a new partner with a more accommodating handicap (Only kidding - can't break up the dream team).

What news of the job. Any plans? what was the reason?

Im so jealous of those scores, last summer I was regularly firing mid-80's and now they are a distant dream!

Yes, for sure. Going round under 90 frequently is a good "place to be"......

I was only on a one year full time contract that usually renewed every year, however, they have stopped the courses I lecture on. Aint got a clue why? The success rate was above benchmark and it was making money.
Have a few interviews lined up over the next few weeks, if it all goes tits up ill just play more Golf and get a government loan out to live on while I complete the 2nd MA.

Don't you dare break up the dream team, we have NEVER been beaten!

50p Your on!
