evening all
we want to hear your verdicts on the 2013 Open so fire away with your thoughts on everything. It could be on Phil's dramatic final round, Westwood's collapse, Tiger's no show in the final round, Rory bombing out at the halfway point, the TV coverage, what it was like if you came... all or none of the above!

The best Major in some time, sooo many TOP top golfers and such a nail biting day for everyone involved. The lead chopped and changed so much, was anyone's to win. Some ups and downs regards reports of the course from some players, but the best golfer ended up winning!!

Westwood didn't collapse, he was outplayed - there's a massive difference!
It was a brilliant tournament - glorious weather, glorious course and top, top golf.

Carlsberg don't do golf competitions...

Great Open, everything top notch from the weather to not knowing who was going to win as the final pair started the back nine on Sunday.
Top coverage from the BBC, golf at it's best.
Worthy winner who played the round of his life.

Decent open with the lowest score of the day winning which is how it should be. Phil won unlike Els last year who had it given to him by Scott. A vintage Open? Not really and I'm afraid BBC's coverage is mediocre at best. Overall I reckon 7/10

He did collapse, if he didn't, he would have pared today at the very least and protected his score but he didn't, he got into too many situations (bunkers & rough) and then couldn't recover. It was his worse round over the 4 days so how you can say he didn't get tight and collapse is beyond me. If he had played to at least one of his previous days scores then you could say he was outplayed, but he didn't. You have to go down to 40th place to find someone (Dustin Johnson) who shot greater than 75 today.

Collapsed IMO.

Very pleased for Stensen after some frugal years.
And what the hell was Poults on..?

I found the golf a bit similar to Merion in that, Poults and Phil apart, it was more about not making mistakes than being able to have a run at attacking some holes. The penalty for missing the fairway was severe. I know the weather was a contrbuting factor but once Phil got 2 ahead it was game over, nobody really had a chance to get back at him..

I don't want a birdie-fest, 20+ under or something, but 7 or 8 under at least shows you can attack and you have a chance if someone does manage to get away.
As it was, the end was a bit of an anti-climax. Phil had finished ages before Westwood and Mahan putted out...

A lesson in how to hit irons off the tee and a boost to ebay as 1000s of golfers list their drivers for auction. Every Open in recent years has at least one 'defining moment' which fans can recall, be it a super shot, comeback or unlikely victor. This year had nothing.

Great win for Phil. Very sorry for Westwood - true he was out played on the last day but a 70 would have seen him win the Claret Jug. Amazing for Lefty to finish with 2 birdies. That's the way to win a Major.

Course was fiery and difficult but the result surely justified the set up. A great last day and a truly worthy winner.

 This year had Phil birdie-ing 17 and 18.

Quite simply the R&A put on the greatest golf tournament of the year.

4 birdies in the last 6 holes : that was the difference, but I echo my comments earlier, until circa 14 BBC didn't realise that big Phil was playing !

And I agree, sorry, 4 over is a collapse, which is a terrible terrible shame. I sooooooooo wanted Lee to do it today
I don't think I can put up with giving up my whole weekend to be disappointed again and again
