I was playing today in a twoball and we were steadily catching up with a 3ball in front of us. When we arrived on the 15th tee they were up the fairway but within driving range. They immediately all moved to the side of the fairway and waved us through.

It was very refreshing and I thanked them when they came in at the end of their round.

its just a shame so many others would not do the same.

I'm not so sure Louise.

You say you were steadily catching them up that's means by the 15th they had not been holding you up previously and with only 30 minutes or so left in your round not so bad.

If they had been holding you up then yes they should let you through but in that case that would have been earlier

They went out 50 minutes before we did and there was no one in between, when we were on the 8th they were on the 10th. We waited briefly for them on the 13th and 14th.

I played Illkely last summer as a single and was waved through multiple groups as and when they spotted me arrive behind them.

Absolutely seamless and the members are a credit to their club.

I had a similar experience at Westerham GC, we were a 2 ball and were let through 3 or 4 groups without us even needing to ask or make it obvious we were waiting. Some people are just good people.

It is good to hear when this happens!

I recently played with two lads from work who were a bit funny with me when I suggested we let the two ball behind play through...

Couldn't really understand the issue but they were worried that the two ball would then hold us up....
