I must admit, that having gone to bed in the spare room at around 7pm, just after getting home (don't remember a lot), I am surely persona non grata in our house - again), I want to relive a great days golf
Winter pairs fourth round - tough match against very tasty opposition - it was always going to be hard. Trevor, my partner off 7, I get 2 shots, our opposition get 2 and 4, so pretty tight.
Hole 1 - good position, we both just miss the green - good par chance, I miss it by fractions - 1 down
Hole 2 - similar story - both of us miss by fractions
Hole 3 - time to go 3 down with more bogies
Hole 4 - my par moves us 4 down
confused
, giving a shot, but it feels a move in the right direction
Hole 5 - I get a birdie, although not needed
I then sit back and watch some of the best golf I have witnessed. Trevor goes birdie on 6, I bogie 7 for a half, then Trevor has Birdie 8, 9 and 10, par 11 and 12 and birdie 13, par 14! we both bogie 15 to win the match - I birdie 17 after the match is over and we both miss good chances on 18 - for Trevor, it would have been a level-par round.
This magical golf (from my partner) forced a little drinkie from me - I know I got a lift home and arrived back as the kids were getting ready for bed, but not sure of the rest - I suspect (educated guess!
) that I am in the big dog house but I will deal with that later!
. Best display of golf I have seen, maybe ever, from my partner ( 4 down after 4 and won on 15), 3 birdies in 4 holes from 6, 1 under on the back and 1 over for the round!
