Been really struggling recently and my swing has been all over the show. Was really struggling at the range today, coming from over the top caused in the main from too flat a takeaway, too steep, trying to correct said takeaway or with my normal favourite of swinging too far and moving laterally. Feeling really desperate I was struck by a moment of inspiration from here and lined my ball up next to the tee on the mat. I aimed to strike the ball missing the tee. Within half a dozen shots I was hitting OK.

Went out this afternoon and played nine. Driving was good but the irons were still ropey. Caught the back of a ladies match on 9 so decided to come off (it was going to be dark in four hours) and went to the practice ground. Put a ball down next to my object ball and repeated the process. Was hitting the ball sweetly again with draw and good distance. I forget who came up with the drill on here (I'm sure to cure someone of the sh**ks) but it worked a treat and I'm a happier camper. I did manage to hit the outside ball twice and sent it flying but no-one was around to see !!!!!!

when about to make your swing, where are you putting the ball you are hitting in relation to the tee/dummy ball?

i have heard a similar drill of putting a head cover just past the tee which helps with the out-to-in swing.

The tee or other ball are parallel to the one I'm hitting. It's great as you really have to focus on a good inside path. Too flat and you come OTT and hit the block or worse still miss it (you really feel those ones) and too steep on the way back and I'm finding I'm slightly outside the line and so catch the block with a deflecting blow and a deep divot

The only bad shot I'm struggling to cure is my ever-present overswing (leading to reverse pivot and lateral movement). At least I'm getting through the ball ok and getting a better strike with this drill. I've got a lesson soon for a swing MOT and to start work on slowing and shortening the whole ting.
