Hi,

just a quick post to say thanks for a enjoyable few hours at Basingstoke American Golf (Ball fitting), the whole exp was very enjoyable and I learnt a whole lot in regards to golf balls and how it can help to be using the right one.

Thanks again and also thanks for the golf balls ,was not expecting to get 5 boxes of them.

Cheers

sounds good, care to share the experience as probably none of us have had a ball fitting, didn't even know such a thing existed

Hi,

go there and went into the bay at the back of the shop, the first thing you do is have a few warm up shots. Then you hit for real , every time you swing/strike the ball, all the stats are recorded on some really fancy bit of kit, it records you swing speed, how far you hit the ball, how much spin is generated, where you are striking the ball i.e heel.

You then have chat with the pro who once analaysing all your stats will recommend some golf ball makes which would suit your swing speed.

I ended up trying Nike Power distance , Wilson Ultra and Callaway warbird +.

The reason I was trying these balls is that due to my power slice and my out to in swing path, I generate a lot of spin. The pro wanted to combat this but not lose me any distance (as I don't hit it that far with my crap swing).

The Callaway Warbird + performed the best and lowered the amount of spin I was generating.

It was a very enjoyable few hours and I did learn a lot, and to cap it all off I have just emptied my Golf bag and found that it was 6 boxes of the balls that we were given.

As said it may not be for everyone , but I learnt a lot and it hit home how much diffrence it could make if I use the correct ball.

I would also add that all 4 of us got diffrent brands that we performed best with, and that the pro at American golf in Basingstoke made me feel at ease and knew his stuff.

Thanks again

I used the callaway diablo HX Tour at the weekend and found them lovely to hit. I played crap but my long irons and hybrids were straight as. also found putting good with them.

Although with 6 dozen you wont be needing to try anything else for a while :)

Glad you had a good time and learned a few things from it.

Hi Midnight, nice to meet you today, really enjoyed it myself
The spin speeds created and distances on different balls certainly Surprised me thought a ball was a ball, 6 dozen balls that should see us through a round or two. ;)
