Just got my copy of Today's Golfer through the post. I know, I'm gona be struck by lightning. But they have a rather unfortunately timed article with a certain Martin Kaymer titled 'The Closer' - Sub-Titled 'The best frontrunner in the game on playing with the lead ......'

Oh dear.

Just going to read the full article now. But I expect a few cringe moments in there after yesterdays performance.

Yes, that is unfortunate. Although before yesterday i think we'd have all agreed with that piece! Just goes to show that you are only one week away from looking like a chump in that line of journalism.

I was just about to start a thread myself about this - you beat me to it. I liked the bit that says "Put simply, if Martin Kaymer plays his way into the lead then he wins, more often than not by a comfortable margin" "Be it Abu Dhabi, Sawgrass or Pinehurst".

I'm not laughing at Kaymer, I really like the guy - just the unfortunate timing of the article.

Is the "Oh dear" comment about Kaymer or the inferior rag the article is in? ;) Mind you don't get an infraction for mentioning it on here…… :D

But yes, seriously bad timing; the curse of the editor as opposed to the curse of the commentator?

To be fair, it's rare for Kaymer to capitulate in such fashion and so the writer was probably feeling rather pleased with his work at the time. Clearly it happens but he's still a pretty good front runner (normally!!!)
