Texas Scramble

Have a Texas scramble where each player has to take 4 drives to count.

Inevitably on one of the teams someone does not turn up and they only have 3. What system do you adopt in that case please?

Does each player take 5 drives or is there an alternative?

No, most still take 4 drives per player with the rest being "spare". Given that the team with less players get less goes on every shot compared to a 4 man team and will, say, have only 3 putts instead of 4 every time. There is not much chance that a 3 man team will win!

Not that we have tried it, but when you get to the green the player who's drive you used could have an extra putt. just to even things up a little.
