How does this work usually?

I played in a corporate day yesterday and our team was made up of two 28's, a 15 and me off 10. We shot 7 under. What would of been our score once the handicaps are taken into account?

We didn't win. When they announced the winner they it was said they had a score of 49.5? How do they get to this? what would ours of been? They actually finished on -4 so it must have been the handicaps that swung it?

Cheers.

49.5!!!!!!!! OMG! We normally play 1/10th combined so for your team the hcap would be 8.1. Assuming a par 72 your team score would have been 56.9. At our place (par 71) a score of 54 is normally in the prizes.

So based on a score of -4 and assuming a par of 72 the handicap deduction would be 18.5 so their combined hcap 185 or an average of 46.25

Handicap must be wrong. With your team you would have had a fairly high handicap for a scramble and with a 3 shot start on the gross I would have thought you would have won that. The handicap mentioned for them is unbelievable.

We did use three drives including par threes. It was the clubs Director who worked out the scores at the end of the round. I only know that one of the winning team plays of 24. This is the second year ive questioned this.

So if we had a combined hcp of 81, we get 10% of this, 8.1, par is 72 so with the 6 under score and 8 shots we'd be 58. For them to have had 4 under they'd of had 18 shots on the course? Impossible.

What a a ss that Director is then!

The lowest score I've heard of in a Texas scramble is 49.

Some dubious scores scores happen in these type of team events. The idea team would have a 28 H/C player, the other 3 of scratch, IMO. Team will receive a h/c of 2.8

I would say 2 scratch players and two off 20 who can hit it a mile, even if they are wild. That gives a handicap of 4, gives the two high handicappers a chance to hit it as far as possible, hopefully getting 1 out of 4 in play, with the hope that the two scratch hit their approaches to within birdie range.

Anyhoo, that's a lot of analysis about a format primarily as a bit of fun.
