hey all.

wondering if anyone can lend some knowledge with regards texas scramble handicapping.

if there is a mix of teams of 3 and 4 how does that affect handicaps?

teams of 3 receive an eighth of the combined - what would the team of 4 receive?

a solution would be much appreciated. I tried googling but my search skills are cack!

regards...

Best I can find, seems to be the most commonly used but only tend to quote 4-man teams

"Handicap Allowance – again this varies by location – normally it is 1/10th of the combined handicaps – to the nearest decimal point."

Thanks, this is for a bounce event that my mate is organising. Its not the Ryder Cup or anything like that, just trying to get a system that accommodates the numbers...

For a team of 4 add all handicaps up and divide by ten.
For a team of three add all handicaps and divide by six.

Also teams of four, the player who's shot you have choosen does not play the next shot including putts. All players to have min four drives each max five.

Teams of three all players to play the next shot, five drives each.

Cheers Doh,

It was played yesterday.

Team of 3 were given 1/7 combined handicap and required 4 drives each. As it turned out, there was only 1 team of 4. They got 1/10th combined handicap and 3 drives each.

The aim was to have a fun competition so the organiser didn't really want to impose too many restrictions as I had a load to throw at him as well he didn't want to hear ;)

The team of 4 pipped the team I was in to victory. I will have to use your handicap method to see if we would have won with that. I was too full of Belhaven yesterday to call for a stewards enquiry :)

All the 4-man scrambles I have ever played have been either 3 or (more likely) 4 drives per player to be used without any further restriction on 2nd and subsequent shots. Having said that, the rules quoted above would make the event even more tricky !

Yes thats ok if you have all four or three man teams but if you have teams of three and four in the same comp then the rule applies.
