Breaking news on Sky, 2 suicide bombers have blown themselves up in Istanbul Ataturk airport, with reports of gunfire also. At least 10 dead so far. Here we go again:(

My mate and his family are due to fly there this Thursday, I joked with him last Friday that he was a brave man and should take some tin hats with them, sad and scary times indeed.

Went last year myself, was a bit wary to say the least but was brilliant over there. Was planning to go again next year but I think it's only going to be a matter of time before this sort of thing comes to one of the tourist hot spots over there. Such a shame.

7 June, Istanbul: Car bomb kills seven police officers and four civilians. Claimed by Kurdish militant group TAK
19 March, Istanbul: Suicide bomb kills four people in shopping street. IS blamed.
13 March, Ankara: Car bomb kills 34. Claimed by TAK.
17 February, Ankara: 29 killed in attack on military busses. Claimed by TAK
12 January, Istanbul: 11 Germans killed by Syrian bomber in tourist area

Too many instances for me, 90 killed this year alone, I wouldn't be going near the country!

I heard all that on the tranny last night, it's bad enough that it's going on but over there is better than here! I do wish that Scotland would lie low and try and keep itself out of the news!

We have a large group that have golfed in Turkey for the last five or so years. Pretty sure this will be the thing that makes them change venue. A few were reluctant to go this time. Seems to be coming a regular (soft) target and only time before a course or resort hotel is targeted

Why are ISIS attacking a neighbouring muslim country's airport? Thought Erdogan was hammering the Kurds, not Isis? Is it a Sunni/Shia thing?

Up to everyone to assess safety, personally after Tunisia I would go elsewhere than Turkey until the Syria/ISIL situation has calmed, however long that takes, cheap prices seem to be the main attraction in Tunisia/Turkey (cheap for a reason now), rather spend a few quid more and go Balearics or Canaries or Greece or not go at all.
Some may say 'you're letting the terrorists win' but so be it, wouldn't want my kids lives damaged by any incident so not worth the risk, no matter how small, and can you truly relax out there or are you looking over your shoulder, avoiding crowds etc? If you can't relax whats the point!
