I sometimes get a little bit of pain in my elbow after a long range session or round of golf. I had a bucket of balls tuesday and yesterday and today my elbow is really sore. Ive got a strap for tennis elbow and ive tried hot/cold but does anyone have any other things i can try that have helped them?

anti inflammatory tablets.i take diclofenac that my doctor subscribed for tennis elbow.did the trick:)

If it's not a technique issue, then rest and/or softer mats or Grass seems to be the most effective 'cure'. Other treatments can be gruesome!! That strap seems to help a few sufferers.

I got 'Golfer's elbow' - from bad technique - playing Tennis. As it was a tournament, I tried to work around it - with local anesthetic - a complete disaster that I took a month to recover from!

Unfortunately rest is the best cure. I know as I had it a couple of years ago and if it becomes a full blown bout it takes forever to get rid of fully, can turn into months. If it were me I would give it a break for a couple of weeks before it is too late

I had it too , got the doctor to give me a steroid injection and I saw him and he poked around the area with a ball pen and hit the spot it hurt most and injected in that spot and no problem since , it was very painful before and fine after , .....................EYG

It had to happen now as I've got the Kok in a couple of weeks so wanted to get some practice in. It's always been my back that's been the problem and low and behold that feels better and my elbow is the problem. I think leave it this weekend and see how it is next week.

rest 1st and foremost. had it, anti inflammatories, 3 steroid injections and finally surgery, 18 months in total!

All good now though, just the other elbow starting to twinge :)

I would matey. Mine was so bad I could not even pick a cup of tea up with that arm, trust me get a full blown bout of it and it is very painful indeed. Ended up having to go on holiday to Spain with a support bandage on which the GF at the time was less than impressed about:)

Tennis elbow is on the outside of the elbow. usually left elbow for right-handed players. I had a bout of it a couple of years ago. Wearing a tennis elbow support and physiotherapy cured me in about 3 weeks. The physio exercise is to bend your hand palm down as far as you can, which stretches the tendon that attaches to the elbow. If the pain is on the inside of the elbow, then it's 'golfer's elbow', which I've never had, so can't help you on that one. Get well soon anyway! :)

I have a touch if this at the minute. Only a touch mind you.

I'm managing it with Ice and rest at the minute but going to start on the 'brufen also to aid recovery.

Get your loft lies checked and check shafts if you are mi******** the ball even 1 in 20 it can make this condition worse . If you take deep divots you may be hitting the mats to hard try picking it off the mat i.e. no divot. wear the strap quite tight while practising but ensure to loosen it when you stop . Rest is the only cure and you need to do it now while the weather is crap

I had it bad from years of drumming, plus some other things like rsi. Similar cause of vibrations going through the arm, and using a technique with too much arms not enough body. I have to play golf with really relaxed technique, i use anti vibration tape and also softer wilson balls. Generally i find it flares up if im not relaxed also hydration is pretty important.

You a Drummer pal do you still play? I am as well and always try to play when I can. I have a practice kit now as the neighbours would not be too happy. The real one is in the garage awaiting an appearance.

Cortisone? Can be dangerous stuff!

Seems like, whatever it was, it was successful though - and a 1 time Cortisone shot is normally Ok!

I had some seriously painful deep tissue massage. Could barely touch my elbow/forearm for 2 days but once the soreness subsided the tennis elbow had also subsided. Tennis elbow affects the outside of the joint and the straps can work to alleviate that. Golfers elbow is the inside of the elbow and the straps less effective and recovery usually more difficult.

The soreness is about an inch towards my hand from the point of my elbow if that makes sense, The funny thing is i tried a stronger right hand grip on tuesday and hit the ball really well........................ but now my arm hurts . Im sat here doing all the youtube cures at present and il rest it for a while. Its only a mild case at the moment as it hurts most when the arm is extended. Thanks for all your replies

I think you're describing the outside of your elbow (pointy bit!!) so yes tennis elbow and rotating your arm to the right to strengthen your grip could well be the cause - assuming you're a righty and it's your right arm!

Ice, ibuprofen and then there are lots of exercises to do online once it settles down a bit. Good luck.

Got a touch of golfers elbow on the inside of my left arm. Been hitting the range big time working on my swing while the course has been closed or down to 9 holes including a load of pitching. Long range session hitting the I20 and I25 irons on Monday and overdid it. Been on the neurofen anti inflammatories and not hit any balls since. With the course being shut on Saturday I was going to the range again but may give it a break

Definitely sounds like tennis elbow to me. The pain is caused by the tendon trying to rip itself off the bone it's attached to. A tennis elbow brace and the stretching exercise I suggested before in this thread should help. :)

Had tennis elbow for the last few months of 2013. Decided to take Jan off, which I have done... sadly, very little improvement.
