Has anyone on the forum had this and if so how long did it last? Also did you play through it or take a few weeks off?

It started with me a few weeks ago and now after a round my right heel hurts in the base of my foot and up through the back of my heel. Dull ache and almost like a burning feeling sometimes.

The day after is worse and it's hobble city when I wake up for at least an hour or so. It then can mysteriously disappear for a few days.

Is there anything anyone's worn when playing that might alleviate the pain.

Yes, and I know, ask my GP, but just curious to know if anyone can share their experiences.

Achilles i assume. I had it for weeks and weeks, if you dont take care of it, it will only get worse.

I rested, iced it etc, but was given some very simple exercises also to strengthen it.

Stand on the bottom stair with only 30% of your foot on the step. raise one foot off and dip down with the other, then raise up above horizontal. Swap feet and repeat.

Stand facing a wall, hands on the wall at shoulder height. One foot forwards, one back. push gently your front knee toward the wall, with back leg staying in position. swap and repeat.

Do not leave it untreated, it will unlikely get better if you carry on as normal.

yes I suffer a lot with heel pain .
first are you sure it's tendinitis ?
Your first port of call is a podiatrist , take your golf shoes with you and get a proper diagnosis it's worth every penny.
Apart from anti inflammatorys (use gel form) and calf stretching the only answer is rest.
Have you put on any weight over winter , as this can strain your Achilles I know that sounds daft but it's true .
Have you been carrying your clubs ? this all adds up to strain on your calf muscles and heels.
Hope this helps but my main advice is see the Podiatrist asap to nip in the bud quickly.

Thanks both,

Funnily enough it flared up during a spell of carrying when ground was wet and I wondered if that caused it.

Reverted to trolley but no better. I was tubing it round London one day last week and the pain was immense.

I have several pairs of golf shoes so have swapped to see if that would help but same result.

Will try the exercises Rooter. Another exercise was to roll a rolling pin under my foot when watching telly.

Want it cleared up before the season kicks off.

There are several things you can do
rolling pin is good but get a small round bottled water freeze it and use that to roll your foot it ices as well as massages.

Golf ball is great for massaging but can take some getting used to.

As you say you tried different shoes so it sounds like an injury rather than RSI.

PODIATRIST get the correct diagnosis will save time and pain in the long run.

After several months of having a sore shoulder I had a diagnosis of Tendonitis following an ultrasound scan. Earlier this week I had a cortisone injection and the pain has cleared up. I am just worried that the pain is masked and I may overdo things and make the underlying injury worse.

Anyone had experience of tendonitis in the shoulder?

A pediroller was easier I found; https://www.amazon.co.uk/Carnation-...YF0ZTVM1DPH&psc=1&refRID=6GYHWP8B0YF0ZTVM1DPH

My understanding of cortisone injections is that they just boost the bodies natural cortisol which is the chemical which promotes healing. Amongst my many injuries has been damaged shoulder rotator cuffs and cortisone injections worked wonders but never got me back to how they were fully prior to the injury.
