Tonight was nearly a first for me today/night . Played our club pairs tie today with a 16:10 tee off and didn't finish until 20:40. I know what your thinking 4 ball 4.5 hours not to bad. We won on the 14th and walked in then. One of our opponents who were great guys, but the slow play was unreal. He's been a member for a good number of years and had stroke saver out etc on each shot etc along with a 2 min routine. Is there a point where you should address this problem with your opponents.

2 min routine. Wasn't Bradley in disguise was he? Just tell them it goes dark at 8pm:) not a lot really you can do unless you want to run the risk of an atmosphere for the rest of the round. If it were me I would grin and bear it and try and avoid playing them again

It's a tricky situation, especially with guys who are members and you'll be probably bumping into them around the clubhouse

Depends if you are holding up players.
Then I would just say a generic 'we need to get a move on guys'
Worked pretty well for me.

That is hellish slow, please tell me the 'pairs' event was not foursomes!

Played the medal last week, was playing well. Then we caught up with the three ball in front. Waited on every tee, but I had to stay calm. I didn't miss them when I came into the club house though. Way too many players think they're playing in the open.

It's one of those times when you should stand over a 6 inch putt for 2 minutes.... or just stand over your drive when you've tee'd it up and smoke a cigarette.... THEN point out that you're playing at the same speed as they are ;)

I normally make a general comment about needing to speed up, doesn't always work though.

By the way, 4 1/2 hours for a 4-ball isn't something I'd describe as "not too bad" it is slow. What you experienced is ridiculous

Get a good brisk walk on wherever possible, be ready to put flag back in etc, ie try and get them up to a better pace, if that fails point out you have lost holes on the group ahead
