The old TV has died so we need a new one,

We dont do Sky, just Freeview via a Panasonic Hdd Tuner on a scart (2 Scart sockets required)
We do have a PC attached so a DVI or VGA connection would be vital
It is in a wifi zone, but the PC can deal with this so not vital

Sizewise somewhere close to 36 inches total diagonal would fit

Looks like there are LCD and LED and Plasma options, which is best

Price up to £400

Any TV experts out there can point us in the right direction?

Cheers

there are soooo many options, best place is avforums.com they have specialist forums on all tv's. I bought my Samsung from their recommendations and its the best tv I've had plus they post the best prices and falling prices. I bought mine and got 3 lower price matches approved in the month from JL, probably the best place to buy from for CS and no quibble gaurantees

Rooter seems like a Tech geek (no offence Rooter) & in the know about these things, sure he'll be able to help you out.
Prices of TV's seem to have come down loads. Bargains to be had if you don't insist on having the latest model.

I just bought a 32" technika with inbuilt free view from tesco bought it for upstairs and have to say well pleased with it. Should have been £199 but got 20% discount from tesco. Have a look at tesco direct.

Couldn't you rent one from Radio Rentals ?

This may not be one of my stronger subjects.;)

A quick drive to High Wycombe John Lewis should do it...

In my experience very knowledgeable staff offering honest advice...

I second this. You get a 5 year warrantee from JL and their prices are good. They have a nice range to look at with good advise.

Check some of the new "Smart" TV's. Some have options that allow you to connect a HDD and record along with HD freeview built in so you could get rid of the freeview box. Combine that with iplayer, ITV player, 4OD and netflix access all based on the set and the ability to play videos from HDD they can be all in one entertainment centres.

OI all you saying JL, post #2 gave him that info

JL will PM but not against an online only retailer, I had my TV reduced twice from JL after I'd paid and recieved it

Phil you been on to AVF yet, thats all you need
